Not the greatest half of rugby but what an end to the half.
Rugby needs a bit of scrap sometimes.
Chessum vs Pollock and Coles
Freddie Steward getting involved.
Looks like Chessum lost his head a bit there.
Grim stat for Bath fans
That is their lowest score in the PREM under JVG, lowest previously under his tenure was 9 scored away to Sale.
It’s also their lowest in the Prem since the 0 scored here in the 64-0 loss - their last loss in the league at Kingsholm until tonight.
FULLTIME
Gloucester 23-5 Bath
Once again Bath fail to score after halftime this season.
Way too many missed opportunities both in the close range stuff and when the ball did find its way to the backs.
Bath need a reset.
Plenty of talent but something in the air is not right.
Gloucester’s defence is impressive but all it’s taking at the moment is an immense amount of hardwork.
Bath have spent most of the night with one out runners and pick and go’s leading to one on one tackles.
Bath have Russell, Lawrence, Redpath and have not used them.
When Bath have trialed at half-time while scoring some points, they have won on their past four league visits at Kingsholm.
They trail tonight but will need one of their ‘24/25’ 2nd-half’s not one of their ‘26/27’ ones.
HALFTIME
Gloucester 9-5 Bath
Bath nearly went another forty minuets without scoring but a late try saves some blushes.
Bath have been dominant but some sloppy penalties have given Gloucester easy points.
Gloucester have been ferocious in D but helped by blunt Bath attack.
Bath all over Gloucester but attack can’t find a way through vs 13 men.
Sums Bath’s season up.
Could be game right there.
Santi goes off with a nasty injury …
Bath went for a 6-2, Donoghue comes on, Bath have one back left on the bench for the rest of the match.
Another concern is it’s another injury in the back three … Bath have been hit hard in that area this season.
Right then - Derby Day - Gloucester vs Bath
Bath have not lost at Kingsholm in the league under JVG nor have they lost in the league here since that infamous 64-0 loss.
But Gloucester are the form team.
What will tonight bring?
Once again reporting for @bathrugbylive
Team News vs Gloucester is interesting
🔵 Kepu gets the start
⚫️ Reid returns
⚪️Hennessey returns while Offiah gets a start
Bath on a mini slump, Gloucester playing some top level stuff.
Can Bath make it 5 league wins in a row at Kingsholm?
This IMO was the decisive moment of the match.
If Bath score they go 19-10 ahead maybe even 21-10 and most likely kick on.
Joe has had his great moments in a Bath shirt but a drop like this is all too familiar sadly.
Clanger for someone who was much improved last season.
Bath now head to Kingsholm where they haven’t lost in the PREM since 2022 and at all under JVG.
Gloucester are the most improved team on early viewing this season and Bath need to wake up if they are to avoid a first league defeat there since the 64-0.
Big week for JVG.
FULLTIME
Bath 14-32 Montpellier
That was not good enough.
Lack of core skills once again showing.
Defence poor, set-piece inconsistent.
Montpellier turned up but they didn’t have to work for there tries very much.
Something is not right at the moment.
Barring the first 6 months, this is the poorest rugby I have seen from Bath under JVG.
They have bad days under him, but today was more worrying, sloppy skills, lacking energy at times, missed tackles.
Attacking game plan has been poor too.
Bath are lacking cohesion and fluidity.
They started brightly but since halftime, the shape has been poor with one out runners in attack.
Ball skills also sloppy at times.
