महर्षि वाल्मीकि कभी डाकू या अपराधी नहीं रहे। प्राचीन शास्त्र यही कहते हैं कि वो विद्वान, तपोनिष्ठ, करुणामय, धर्मपरायण और सत्यवादी ऋषि थे।
रामायण में उन्होंने अपना परिचय देते हुए स्वयं को प्रचेतस का दसवाँ पुत्र बताया है। मन, कर्म और वचन से जीवन में कभी पाप न किए जाने की घोषणा की है। स्कन्दपुराण सहित दूसरे संस्कृत ग्रंथों के माध्यम से बाद में उनके डाकू होने की कथा प्रचलित हुई।
अलग-अलग कथाओं में रत्नाकर, अग्निशर्मा और लोहजंघ जैसे नाम मिलते हैं उनके। किन्तु, रामायण में उनके किसी ऐसे पुराने नाम का वर्णन नहीं है। वो एक तपस्वी थे। वाक्यविशारद... धर्मात्मा... महामुनि... रामायण में उनके लिए ऐसे विशेषण हैं। भरद्वाज उनके शिष्य थे। जो व्यक्ति तमसा नदी के तट पर प्रेमालाप में मग्न क्रौञ्च पक्षियों के एक जोड़े में से एक की किसी शिकारी द्वारा हत्या से इतना द्रवित हो गया कि शोकवश उनके मुँह से एक श्लोक फूट पड़ा और यहीं रामायण लिखे जाने की नींव पड़ी - विश्वास नहीं होता कि वो कभी अपराधी रहा होगा! जीवमात्र के प्रति करुणा का ऐसा प्रदर्शन तभी देखने को मिल सकता है, जब कोई जन्मजात ऐसे ही परिवेश में रहा हो।
ये भी हो सकता है कि व्यास और वशिष्ठ की तरह 'वाल्मीकि' नाम भी किसी ऋषि-परंपरा का हिस्सा ही रहा हो। वाल्मीकि रामायण के आधार पर बाद में कई रामायण लिखे गए, लेकिन कहीं इसका कोई प्रमाण नहीं है कि उनके लेखक भी वाल्मीकि ही थे। हर दर्शन, विचारधारा व भूगोल ने अपने-अपने परिवेश के हिसाब से रामकथा को लिखा, कहा, भजा।

DELHI MEDIA GOSSIP: the Anchor in question got away with a mere formal warning. Apparently considerable blackmail was exerted on management - threat of the liberal ecosystem attacking the channel & her playing victim. This despite verifiable financial malfeasance.
DELHI MEDIA GOSSIP: A “political editor” of a major newspaper & a “news anchor” of a major news channel are reportedly set to lose their jobs.
The “anchor” is accused of misconduct & money siphoning. Apparently undercut a B2B publicity deal & then proceeded to use their position in the channel, to bypass management and give free publicity on the channel, in lieu of a fully funded foreign trip.
The “editor” apparently has no access except at lower levels, despite promising the moon.

The proof 1+1=2 may be trickier.
During a lecture in Univ. of Cape Town, and later at at JNU some years ago (pic1), I offered a challenge prize (no one claimed it) of Rupees 10 lakhs to anybody who could prove 1+1=2 in "real" numbers subject to some simple caveats (pic2). Prize reduced to 1 lakh for a response within a week.
A similar experience with the math and physics faculty running away from this challenge in Delhi University (pic3) and also in the math department of an IIT.
Matter of great shame that the faculty in our most prestigious universities are so demonstrably incompetent at the level of 1+1=2. But no one resigned. No one was sacked.
(This is trickier bcoz in axiomatic math, number 1 has multiple meanings. The real number 1 is not the same as the natural number 1 because the axioms are different.
Real numbers are officially taught at the level of class 9, since such numbers are DEEMED needed for the axiomatic way to do calculus.)

Colonialism brought Western ethnomathematics, different from ganita, which prevailed in India ___before colonialism.
Different even at the level of 1+1= 2.
In ganita children learn one plus 1+1= 2, using observation, as you were taught in kindergarten. (pic1)
In axiomatic math brought by colonialism, observation is prohibited as explained in the previous class 9 text (p. 301, pic2)
Hence, Bertrand Russell foolishly took 378 pages to prove 1+1=2, That page 378 (pic3) is beyond the understanding of most people, because colonial education DELIBERATELY made us mathematically illiterate, as we will see in more detail later.

PM Modi in a speech last year(pic1), urged a 10-year national pledge to shed the colonial mindset rooted in "Macaulay’s legacy".
But the first step to cure the colonial disease is to understand its true cause.
The true cause of the colonial disease is padreism not Macaulay or Roy. Repeat church padres fooled us with their education system NOT Macaulay.
It is obvious: to anybody who thinks about it for even one second, ten years not needed.
Thus the very SAME church education went to all the colonies (pic2), including those of the French, the Portuguese, the Spanish, the Dutch, where Macaulay was unheard of.
So Macaulay was NOT the cause of the colonial disease for it is foolish to attribute multiple causes for the same phenomenon.
The mathematics syllabus in all colonies was the same the language was NOT. So it was NOT about the language, English, either.
