So BLESSED! 38 years @postandcouier and to be able to leave 1 of the great jobs on earth - sports columnist in CHS - on my own. Got to work with/compete vs. AMAZING folks. Thrilled about a few exciting opportunities, plus service projects in SC/GA and abroad. ❤️ y’all!

Such a beautiful ceremony yesterday in Charleston for Sally Smith, my friend and the friend of so many people. This celebration was so Sally! Thank you, sweet Gary Smith and the entire wonderful family.

Congrats to 2026 U.S. Open champ Wyndham Clark. I started at the Santa Monica Outlook the same week as his late, wonderful, dynamic mother Lise Thevenet, who had just been crowned Miss New Mexico. The only person I have ever worked with whose child went on to win 2 majors.

Thanks, NBA Thanks, basketball. Villanova won the 2016 Charleston Classic (and beat the College of Charleston a few days later in the same building) with future Knicks Brunson, Hart, Bridges doing work. villanova.com/news/2016/11/2…

Gary Smith, one of the greatest writers ever, wasn’t the only superstar sleeping in his own bed for the last 40+ years. Sally Wilson Smith, wow - former Gamecocks tennis standout, superb journalist, revered doctor, all-star mom, friend. Sad, sweet obit: obits.postandcourier.com/us/…

Great journalist, better human

what a run, @SteveFink_SID #Legend

The latest @UofSC star with Virginia ties: our granddaughter from Chesapeake, who starts in August! I credit @dawnstaley (UVa) and @CoachSBeamer (VaTech) for stirring the inspiration to move South, and great parents. No idea where she got the idea to major in journalism!

Dodger Stadium to Santa Monica Blvd on Sunday via Skid Row, Olvera St, Chinatown, Little Tokyo, Thai Town, Hollywood Blvd, Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills. No interviews on the field but after a 10-minute cooling-off period and presser I took a few Zoom questions.

Was there, so much fun! Thanks for remembering this!

Happy Black History Month! And so happy - with the leadership of John Rivers, the Charleston RiverDogs and others - Charleston’s 1955 Cannon Street YMCA Little League All-Stars are still going strong with projects, trips, fundraising, honors, anniversaries, and public speaking.

Tough loss for the @ChicagoBears Ben Johnson, like Shane Beamer a Charleston-born son of a former @CitadelFootball coach

That’s right, nine years ago Joe Thomas Sr, 55, played varsity football for the SC State Bulldogs. What a fun story! @SCSTATE1896 @SCState_Fb youtu.be/BZabGEdpEv0?si=fs12… via @YouTube

Great offseason acquisition by MLB:

So fun to be a volunteer tour guide at the Boyhood Home of Woodrow Wilson in Augusta for over a year. Get to talk Civil War, architecture and baseball. The museum next door has stuff about Wilson‘s presidency, World War I, and terrible record on race. wilsonboyhoodhome.org/

So cool! So well deserved!

Thank you, baseball

RE: Blake Butera. Quite a run of former @ChasRiverDogs players or managers who have become MLB skippers: Dave Trembley, Charlie Montoyo, Rocco Baldelli, Carlos Mendoza, Matt Quartaro.

Report: Washington Nationals set to name Blake Butera, 33, as manager. Fast track was very apparent when the former Boston College player was leading the ⁦@ChasRiverDogs⁩ to championships. postandcourier.com/sports/mi…
