I should make clear: I and other visiting authors have recently had experiences of being asked to censor our LGBT focused presentations. I have also spoken to a librarian who quietly dismantled their LGBT book display because of βquiet pressure from aboveβ

Benefits of Reading to Children: a thread π§΅
Itβs well known and documented that reading for pleasure has HUGE positive effects on childrenβs learning, both in school and throughout their lives. But what about children who canβt be persuaded to read for fun?

It's never not sad to see people in the BOOK INDUSTRY hold contempt for children's books and their authors.
I did an event once, there were authors of all genres and reading ages there and someone in "adult publishing" sneered at the arrival of a picture book author.
Cont'd.
