I am a dutch, widowed parent, of a British child. I live in the UK on a parent visa and my daughter is happily growing up here, near my late wife's family and our friends.
Last week @ukhomeoffice cancelled my right to be here. In error.
A thread to put the record straight.

This week we’re looking at a paper that examined the relationship between language ability and social, emotional and behavioural difficulties in children with and without DLD. The authors of this paper were @ShaunKYGoh , @SarahLGriff , @lilacCourt and the SCALES Team.
New @PALS_SCALES paper out today in Royal Society Open Science: “Relationship between early language competence and cognitive emotion regulation in adolescence” with @lilacCourt @suksasilp @clsebastian and Laura Lucas
Paper: bit.ly/3iEsYEJ
OSF: osf.io/pqfb7/
This suggests that children with more severe language disorder are unlikely to be able to participate in common talking therapies for mental health. It also suggests a need to develop and practice language that can be used for emotion regulation.
To find out more about the links between language and well-being, check out our video, made with our SCALES participants!
