Calling someone “woke” because they think female characters should be portrayed in a way that’s sexy and dignified is honestly such a low-awareness take. “2D characters don’t have dignity” misses the point. I’m a woman, and yes, it gets tiring seeing female characters constantly default to being as exposed as possible. This isn’t about censorship. It’s about variety, context, and respect in design. Representation still matters, especially when a game grows and reaches a wider, more diverse audience. Guilty Gear Strive isn’t niche anymore. It’s global, it’s in esports, and it reaches different age groups. At that point, presentation matters. You can’t market a competitive game to a broad audience while pushing designs that are overly explicit in standard gameplay. And no, this has nothing to do with being “woke.” If anything, insisting that female characters must always be portrayed in the most revealing, consequence-free way is its own kind of agenda. I’m not against fanservice. It just needs context and intention. Save it for unlockables, optional content, or specific moments, not as the default, always-on presentation. There’s a difference between style and overexposure. Also, being told this by accounts that post hentai 24/7 is… not exactly the strong argument you think it is.
