Sticky notes are made to remind us of the things we don’t want to forget. This year, Canadians used them to remember something much greater. Thousands of handwritten notes from across Canada have come together to create a portrait of Lance Corporal Allan “Scotty” Davidson, one of the first professional hockey players to enlist in the First World War.
Created to mark 100 years of The Royal Canadian Legion, the Remembrance Mural honours Scotty’s story and more than 120,000 Canadians who gave their lives in service to their country.

2026 National Poppy Campaign launches with a donation “first” … and stunning mural: Don’t forget to Remember.
The Royal Canadian Legion’s 2026 National Poppy Campaign launched today with a first: a new way for Canadians to donate to the campaign with their debit card, credit card or digital wallet via tap-on-phone. Legion volunteers from participating Branches can use their own compatible smartphones to collect contactless donations.
“This is revolutionary for us, and we hope to see it grow,” says Sharon McKeown, Dominion President. “We are constantly modernizing our campaign to make it easier to reach those who support our mission, and we are grateful for their incredible contributions each year.”

Today, May 28th 2026, marks a monumental day in Canada.
On this day twenty-six years ago, the remains of the Unknown Soldier were laid to rest at the National War Memorial in Ottawa.
The Royal Canadian Legion was determined to establish a resting place of honour and respect for one soldier, that would represent all. A key decision was to select the Unknown Soldier from the First World War battlefield near Vimy Ridge, symbolizing a defining moment in Canadian history when all four Canadian divisions fought together under Canadian command
The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a sacred site of Remembrance, representing all of the servicemen and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

The Legion notes a renewed request to award the late Jess Larochelle the Canadian Victoria Cross. Private Larochelle performed selfless acts to protect others during an attack in Afghanistan and deserves this commendation.
