AWFJ's @dcarson_critic reviews Telluride Film Fest release #TheNaturalState, saying director Matthew Dougherty's doc about Indian anti-guru U.G. Krishnamurti, is a "daring endeavor" & "a staggering, astute interrogation" of Krishnmurti's appeal. More here: awfj.org/blog/2026/09/11/the…

South African filmmaker Advik Beni’s debut feature, ā€œmother, you have not died yet. but you will. and when you do, you will finally be alive again.,ā€ makes its North American premiere at the Camden International Film Festival in Maine on September 19, 2026. The 74-minute South Africa/U.S. production world premiered in competition at FIDMarseille in France in July, where it won the Prix du Public — Audience Award. Set in a post-apartheid Indian township in Durban, the film follows Lishana as she cares for her dying mother and turns to her art practice to process the experience. The film combines documentary and re-enactment, moving between the personal and the national, the tangible and the mystical, the living and the dead. Advik Beni and Lishana Nandhlal wrote it, and Nehal Vyas and Rob Rice produced it. The film is in English, Hindi, and Zulu with English subtitles.
