ALT Media companies are less willing to put resources into TV shows with queer representation. Here's why that's bad business. These shows appeal to everyone. 85% of non-LGBTQ+ 18-24 year olds actively seek out queer-inclusive media. 73% of non-LGBTQ+ Americans are comfortable seeing queer characters on screen. Queer-inclusive shows like Agatha All Along, Arcane, and Hacks consistently top charts for viewership, demand, and ratings. Diversity brings in more money. LGBTQ+ Americans collectively have $1.4 trillion in buying power. 7O% of non-LGBTQ+ Americans agree that companies should publicly support the LGBTQ+ community. Americans are 2x more likely to use a brand that publicly supports LGBTQ+ rights. Representation matters now more than ever. Anti-LGBTQ+ policies and censorship are on the rise.
