Huge thanks to @BenBerke6 & @OSMediaRI for reporting on @RIPTA_RI's 2025 service cuts. While we are relieved that @GovDanMcKee's budget proposes funding RIPTA's existing budget deficit this year, it does nothing to restore these devastating service cuts:

Luckily, Rep Alzate & Sen McKenney introduced bills to restore the cuts via a $5 million allocation. Yes, only 0.03% of the $14 billion state budget! Please watch to understand how such a small amount can have such a massive impact on riders' lives & livelihoods. #SaveRIPTA

The latest from @ProvBusNews: when @RIPTA_RI service is cut, the local economy feels it. Public transit is economic infrastructure. It connects people to jobs, businesses to customers, and communities to growth. @PVDStreets @SaveRIPTA @TransitRi

Replying to @GovDanMcKee
@GovDanMcKee gave car owners tax relief, but cut bus routes. Furthermore, he wants to raise fare hikes for worse service, a tax on the working poor.

We are grateful to see the recognition of RIPTAโs importance in Gov. McKeeโs budget, which allocates funds to fill agencyโs deficit.
The reality remains that the impacts of the largest bus service cuts in RIPTAโs history, enacted last fall, are devastating for riders & drivers.
If Governor McKee and the General Assembly truly seek greater affordability and advancement for Rhode Island, they must reverse the cuts and invest in sustainable funding that expands our only public transit system.
๐ชWe will be back at the State House to fight for real long-term investments in transportation funding every week this session!
๐ขTell @govdanmckee and your state leaders to REVERSE THE CUTS!
