Many in Thorncliffe Park are concerned about plans to build the Ontario line maintenance & storage facility in the heart of their community. I sincerely hope that somewhere in the Ministry of Transportation or in the Premier’s Office, someone is preparing to walk back this plan.

New from me for @thenarwhalca: Toronto needs more public transit, but @Metrolinx's #OntarioLine plans are triggering community mistrust.
“I think Metrolinx’s general attitude is to find a way to get around the community.”

Aamir Sukhera has called Thorncliffe Park home since 1981.
He’s one of many in the community that say no one was consulted or notified before the spring announcement of the maintenance and storage facility — not even local elected officials.

Thank you for organizing! We all welcome transit upgrades here, just not the train yard. If it didn’t have to take a wrecking ball through our community, it would be a much different conversation I think. Shame on @Metrolinx shame on @fordnation for zero community discussion.

I was really impressed by Iqbal Foods employees coming up to show their support of SaveTPark, Yes to trains - NO to Train yard. Our community is the best! @SaveTpark @TNOtoronto

Another community where @metrolinx is imposing their decisions made behind closed doors. Public transit ransit must build communities, not destroy them.

Will the community meetings be announced with 20 days notice - like the Planning Act, Section S.17, ss.19 and S.34, ss.14.1 - and not place character limits for the public comments?

Many in the Thorncliffe Park community feel that they are not being genuinely consulted about the site selection of an @OntarioLine maintenance and storage facility. Read our blog about this issue and our ask for improved public consultations. voicefortransit.com/2021/05/… @SaveTpark

Cont'd: "30,000-plus people live in a two-square mile area. We are boxed in. Now Metrolinx wants to erect a huge wall that will contain the train yard." This "will negatively impact the health and well-being of our already vulnerable community." 3/

Aamir Sukhera of @SaveTpark, in an email, calls this: environmental racism. "Why are these industrial uses always located in marginalized communities like Thorncliffe Park?" 2/

Metrolinx needs to go back to the drawing board on the placement of the Ontario Line MSF and give Thorncliffe Park a voice in the process. Steamrolling over communities is never the answer. youtu.be/G6bahnEzrDw?t=27772
