Stories about a minority group are more palatable when they're a metaphor and not Literally About The Minority Group. It makes it easier for someone to empathise with their plight since there aren't preconcieved notions about how "they actually deserve it though".

A story almost can't be more literal than Celeste is about the main characters transness, it's weird that you feel that trans people should have to hide themselves within the story until theres a trans flag in a coffee cup at the end of the story to maintain plausible deniability
