Yesterday our school took part in World Afro Day 🌍
We celebrated in a variety of ways; musicians who proudly embrace their Afro hair, reading stories and using images to help our understanding. It was a brilliant opportunity for our children to learn, celebrate diversity.
EYFS are doing amazing with their phonics learning. They have been enjoying using conkers with letters on and sounding them out to make words. Well done superstars!
Year 4 have been learning about the digestive system. The children enjoyed taking part in an experiment to help understand the different stages.
It was so lovely to welcome so many family members from EYFS and Year 1 to our early reading meeting and phonics session. We talked about the importance of sharing books at home and the children loved showing off their reading and phonics activities. 😊
Year 2 have started reading ‘The Owl who was Afraid of the Dark’ by Jill Tomlinson. We listened to the description and then visualised Plop. Then we shared our illustrations in our class journal.
A wonderfully warm welcome to our new EYFS children who had a fantastic first week getting to know all about their new classroom, school and friends. 😃
We have had a fabulous first day back in school today. It has been wonderful to see everyone and hear their news. What a pleasure it has been to see everyone back with their friends! A warm welcome to all the children and families who have joined our school today. 😊
What a way to finish the year! Today, KS2 were treated to an amazing live science show with food science expert and TV presenter Stefan Gates. Packed with explosive experiments and fascinating facts, Stefan’s ‘Rude Science’ show had the whole hall buzzing!💥 🧪 🤩 @gastronautTV
Today we said an emotional goodbye to our fabulous Year 6s. It has been a busy week with their leavers party and assembly and our final farewell today.
What an amazing bunch of children who have worked so hard and achieved so much! We are proud of each and every one of you! 🌟😄
Me&Dee joined us for our special assembly today. They were very impressed with the amount of money we raised for the charity so they came to say thank you. They also gave us a certificate and ‘A Gift of Hope’ in the form of an elephant.
Thank you to everyone ☺️
Well done to this superstar for winning the Dino - Treks competition where children from local primary schools were asked to sketch dinosaurs travelling actively. This design was chosen to be put into local parks in the county to form a Dino T-rek trail.
We have had the best time at our colour run today. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and it was just lovely to see this. An added bonus was that 2 teachers had gunge tipped over them at the end of the colour run. It was an exciting assembly to see who was chosen.
Massive congratulations to the Year 4/5 football team who won the Rose Plate Competition yesterday afternoon! Everyone who played for the team across the year made fantastic contributions from the group stages all the way up to the final! Well done all.⚽️🏆 @NWLSSP

Year 5 have had a great time in DT, designing and making their own pasta sauce. They have evaluated other products, practiced knife skills finally used their preparation skills to complete the Bolognaise sauce. With their own marketing on the side, jars of sauce made it home.
What an adventure! Year 1 have created some amazing writing after discovering a DINOSAUR EGG!!! They began by creating and displaying WANTED posters and searching for clues.
They wrote instructions for how to catch a dinosaur, followed the instructions and set a trap. It worked!
Well done to our year 5/6 cricketers who attended the Mixed Dynamos Cricket at Ashby yesterday. The children had a great time and won the ‘Plate’ competition on the day. @NWLSSP
