I think people forget that CU was ranked in the coaches poll at the time of our 2024 matchup and then finished ranked 23rd in the AP at the end of the season. I understand that the stat everyone loves to track is ranked at time of matchup, but that’s just semantics, in reality. They were ranked the week before and by the end of the season. I also saw Husker fans arguing recently whether a win over Oregon would “count” since they were still ranked in the coaches poll. We need to win games, but to act like it’s a legitimate coaching hurdle when the AP is clearly one of the worst ranking metrics out there is kind of silly.
