If people think Anthropic’s Claude wrapper they released yesterday was going to kill @cfosilvia, I have bad news… Yesterday was one of our largest days for new users in months. People don’t want AI wrappers, they want a product that is private, secure, and accurate. Vertical-specific AI will beat general models.

I asked @cfosilvia if Claude's new personal finance product could beat Silvia. This was the response. Try Silvia: silvia.com

It may seem impossible for a small group of misfits to beat the large bullies, but never count @cfosilvia out. We are betting that vertical-specialized AI will outperform the large, general models. We believe personal finance products should be private and secure. No one wants Dario knowing what they own. Silvia encrypts your personally-identifiable information and anonymizes it away from your portfolio. We are also SOC 2 certified and own our own intelligence. If you are a misfit in the legacy financial system, sign up for Silvia and start using AI to better manage your household finances: silvia.com $SVIA

We have an influx of sign-ups right now. The message from new members is clear. Serious investors don't want a general-purpose chatbot with a finance feature bolted on. They want a product built from day one for their money, one that understands their whole financial picture: • Taxes and tax planning • Estate planning
• Alternative assets: crypto, precious metals, real estate, private holdings, collectibles
• Financial documents
• Legacy planning, so your family is taken care of
• Net worth, all in one place And it takes your privacy seriously. @cfosilvia is a personal AI CFO built by investors, for investors. Welcome to everyone joining today. If you want help getting set up, have questions, or want to tell us what Silvia should do next, my DMs are open, or email me at [email protected] cfosilvia.com

Let me tell you a story about how unethical Anthropic is. In April, the Anthropic team began heavily courting our engineering team to tell them corporate secrets, technical details, and future plans for @cfosilvia. They pretended their interest was due to our exploding popularity and accelerating compute usage, but it quickly became apparent that Anthropic was fishing for details on how we built our product and why it was so popular. This included the Anthropic team trying to wine-and-dine our engineers, including a infamous steak dinner where someone told our team "don't worry about it, this is on Dario." Our team was not born yesterday, so we quickly realized what was happening and refused to share sensitive information and technical details with the Anthropic team. As we suspected, Anthropic was trying to get information from us, so they could build a competing product. Some people on their team must have a guilty conscious because they messaged us a few days ago to give us "a heads-up" that they were launching a competing product. Thankfully, the Silvia engineering team has been aggressively working to get off the frontier models for the last ~ 6 months. That effort has been highly successful, because our compute costs are ~ 97% lower when we use our own model & hardware, the latency is lower, and the accuracy of answers materially increases as well. The sad thing for Anthropic is they have now released an inferior product and they had to sell their soul to do it. The only thing worse than being a trillion-dollar company that can't beat a 10-person team is being a trillion-dollar company that no one trusts and everyone knows is unethical. Serious investors continue to choose @cfosilvia over ChatGPT, Claude, and other frontier companies because these products are not optimized to solve the actual user problem. Today, Anthropic launched a Claude wrapper that is masquerading as a personal finance product. Best of luck to them. But I will take the Silvia misfits vs the Anthropic losers any day of the week. if you want to support people trying to do things the right way, and help investors be more informed, then consider signing up for Silvia today: silvia.com

On today's stock market crash: As an investor, on days like today, you have to ask yourself one question: What fundamentally changed over the last 24 hours? The shift in the fundamental backdrop cannot be attributed solely to the Midterm Election results; markets had already largely priced in the outcome. So, what changed between yesterday and today? What is the fundamental reason for today's decline? One of the most likely catalysts is growing concern about a potential "ban" on AI, or at the very least, severe regulation of the industry. Over the last 24 hours, Democratic lawmakers have publicly called for restrictions on advanced AI development, including an outright "ban on artificial superintelligence." Frankly, an outright ban will not happen. Such a ban, if even possible to enforce, would effectively mean the US surrendering its position in the global AI race to China. Does this mean AI is "over" or today's stock market crash marks "the end?" Absolutely not. Rather, we believe we are witnessing a sudden shift in sentiment colliding with excessive levels of leverage, potentially triggering forced liquidations by several major institutional investors. Therefore, today's downturn is more technical than fundamental. This is not to discount the concerns around regulation, they are legitimate. But price action right now does not look orderly or rational. We are in the midst of the biggest technological revolution in human history. Zoom out and remain calm.

One of the things the data analysts on our side obsessed over was "composition"—whether the electorate looked close enough to 2024 for Republicans to win. And despite polls that showed a Democrat blowout, the data kept on telling us the same story: in some states turnout was merely OK, in other states it was downright amazing, and in no state was it catastrophic. There was a genuine sense of optimism on our team: our people were showing up. So, I asked the smartest data guy I know, does that mean we're going to shock the world? "No," he told me. "We might do better than the polls suggest. But the data is telling us that a lot of Trump/Vance 2024 voters are pissed and planning to vote for the other guys. Our voters are turning out, but they may not vote for us." Well, that looks prophetic now. Our voters did show up. In Florida, for example, the electorate was 9 points more Republican than Democrat, just a couple points worse than 2024. Undoubtedly there were places we could have done better on turnout. But the main problem is not turnout. The main problem is that many people who voted for Trump/Vance in 2024 voted for Democrats in 2026. There will be a lot of infighting and arguing over what happened and why that is. One of the pollsters I really respect told me that our economic messaging wasn’t sharp enough down the stretch. I’m sure that’s true. But the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone. Another pollster—one of the smartest people I know in politics, told me yesterday we’d lose the generic ballot by 13 points. I felt negative going into Tuesday, but even I was shocked by this. In his polling, he saw that a lot of Trump 2024 voters were angry and planning to vote for Democrats. He asked those voters who had abandoned us what would cause them to come back on our team. The top four answers, accounting for nearly all of the responses were: 1) End the war 2) Focus on cost of living/inflation 3) Put America First 4) Change our relationship to Israel Our voters showed up. And the above four reasons are why many of them voted for Democrats. This is according to a pollster who nailed the results. While many spent Monday attacking Rachel Campos Duffy for calling for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, it turns out her political advice was sound. (She’s also a great person.) In the next few months, there's going to be a lot of gaslighting. Expect to hear any number of establishment politicians say the solution to our woes is amnesty. I'm open to the idea that we should change enforcement—by focusing more on businesses that hire illegal labor, for instance. But anyone pushing amnesty is lying to you. The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night. If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that's at least honest. But everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there. I remain hopeful about our country. To the people who are pissed off and want to say, “I told you so”: you’re right, you did tell us so. Take that energy into electing Republicans who share your worldview. To the people who are just pissed at the results, you should be. Let’s take that anger and get back to the work of saving our country.

We started October with just 20% of S&P 500 stocks above their 50-day moving average. We finished at 60%. The S&P 500 fell less than 1% for both the week and the month. Read X and you'd think we were headed for a crash. October saw the largest hedge fund degrossing in over a decade. AI has permanently changed the market structure. The SaaS/QE/ZIRP era has given way to high nominal GDP, massive capital needs, hardware shortages for years, greater concentration and violent rotations. Investors are adapting. Earnings keep growing. AI progress keeps accelerating. Anthropic and Oracle sent an important message to the market but few heard it. And the “smart” doomers keep telling us how the AI bubble will end the world. They know, they have seen it. Spooky ghost tales on Halloween. All this and more on this week's video: youtu.be/dIu7S_Z0onM
