Be a UK Founder:
>> Reach out to a VC in June
>> Hear back 4 months later in November
>> VC is keen for a call - great
>> Next available meeting is 3 months later in Jan
Most startups would have died by then.
When @kirbyman01 invested in the ElevenLabs Series A he finished speaking to Mati Staniszewski on the phone and jumped on a flight to London within an hour.
They went for lunch and agreed the terms then and there.
This company, Taxnova - founded by George Nichkov and Maria Malykh, ended up raising a $1m round led by a16z speedrun.
Europe needs to PICK UP THE SPEED
FYI large research team here in London.
The frontier can and is being pushed forward from Europe
Introducing Flint, @Recursive_SI’s first model: a fast local coding model built with our automated research system, the Eureka Machine.
• Best-in-class fast local coding
• Up to 2x faster than comparable models: 125+ tokens/sec on a MacBook Pro, 150+ on RTX Spark
• Built from scratch in under 4 months
Private, unmetered intelligence on your own machine. Open weights available now on @huggingface, run it locally on your favorite framework or try it for free on @opencode or @pidotdev.

AI has read the whole internet. But it’s never run payroll or a business.
We’re changing that.
Today, we’re launching Emet, our AI lab for model evaluation and training, and Pangaea, our first family of models for global work.
On real payroll tasks, the best AI model fully solves only 49%. Close enough to look right. Wrong enough to break a paycheck.
At Emet, in-country experts define what getting it right looks like. We turn that into public benchmarks and training data, and score every model against them. Ours included.
Pangaea is the first proof. Built on open-weight models and trained with Emet, it gets close to top-model accuracy, up to 3x faster, at a fraction of the cost.
@deel and the payroll teams that joined us bring decades of experience running payroll, HR, and compliance across 150+ countries. Knowledge the internet doesn’t have.
Emet puts it to work for every AI model, not just ours.
Fusion design is about to move at the speed of AI.
@alexhigg_, Founder at @ZenithonAIx, says their AI gives the same answers as the old way, but a million times faster.
Pigment has raised $250m at a $2.3bn valuation to take on Microsoft.
The startup makes AI-powered software that helps businesses forecast finances, quickly build slide decks and plan operations.
The company has been flying and it has now raised $250 million, led by the EU Scale Up Fund, which is managed by EQT.
Pigment recently surpassed $100m ARR and is doubling every year.
Other investors, such as Nvidia, joined the round as well as some Asian investors; the company is looking to expand into the region.
Amazing news. A huge congrats to the team.
In Europe, when we talk about sovereignty, this is what we really mean: homegrown alternatives that are looking to compete on a global stage with the very best.
NICE
Mistral has just become a VERY serious contender in Voice AI.
It’s released Voxtral 3, a new family of speech models plus a voice agent SDK.
Key info:
> Transcription in 50 languages, with Mistral claiming it beats Whisper on accuracy
> Speech in 35+ languages and 50+ dialects
> Voice cloning that captures a speaker’s style after 30 minutes of audio
Its big pitch is sovereignty though, as companies can run everything on Mistral’s EU-hosted API or on their own infrastructure.
Could be very relevant for European banks, healthcare etc..
Mistral is cooking rn
Nvidia has now invested $10bn in European startups.
Here is every company they have invested in in past week:
UK 🇬🇧
@boltz_bio
@RiverLane_io
@PrimaMente
@hivergeai
Foresight
Germany 🇩🇪
@MireloAI
@AgileRobots
@aveliosmed
@reflexaerospace
France 🇫🇷🇫

BREAKING: Nvidia has now announced 4 investments into German startups 🇩🇪:
@MireloAI - develops AI models that generate sound effects, speech and music for video, helping creators and production teams produce high-quality audio that perfectly matches their visuals on screen.
@AgileRobots - which builds AI-powered robots, from robotic arms to its Agile ONE humanoid, for manufacturing, logistics and healthcare.
@aveliosmed - develops an AI-native hospital information system that serves as the core system of record for clinical and administrative workflows, integrating AI directly into hospital operations to free up doctors and nurses to deliver better patient care.
@reflexaerospace - designs and builds high-performance satellites ready for launch in about 12 months instead of years.
The company has already invested in n8n, Neura Robotics and Black Forest Labs.
Europe has caught up with the US on starting tech companies.
Laura Connell, Partner at @atomico , says last year was the first time the numbers matched.
The next test is how many of them grow big enough to matter for Europe's economy.
A UK startup has just released the world’s first AI model for extreme physics!
The startup is building models to simulate complex experiments for rockets, fusion reactors and fabs.
Today it has released Nova, a “world model” trained across plasma and fluid physics. It can predict how systems like fusion reactors, chip fabs and hypersonic vehicles behave in milliseconds.
The company (@ZenithonAIx) has published some amazing early results:
> Around 100,000x faster than conventional simulation, on a single GPU
> A fusion design search that takes weeks in simulation, done in about 2 minutes
> A reactor design predicted to need ~20% less laser energy for the same yield, which could mean $50–100M less capital per plant
Fusion is the starting point, but the same physics shows up in semiconductors, space propulsion and hypersonics.
Foundation models have transformed language and images. Physics could be next, and some of the most interesting work is happening right here in the UK.
LETS GO
ANOTHER UK AI lab has just emerged from stealth.
This one is founded by AlphaGo co-creator and former Google DeepMind research lead Thore Graepel (@ThoreG)
Metis Reasoning is tackling one of the largest problems that exists in AI.
Currently, AI can give you a convincing answer but it is impossible to understand how the AI got to that answer, and whether the steps it took to get there were justified.
Inspired by the principles behind AlphaGo, Metis's answer is to rethink how AI reasons.
Rather than relying on models to generate plausible answers, the company is developing an approach in which systems establish conclusions through gathering evidence, testing assumptions and verifying their progress.
Thore has been public about building something in this space, but the company itself has been in stealth until now.
The founding team have also released a white paper labelled "The Age of Reasoning" which sets out the full thesis.

AI models keep getting smarter and faster.
Your company's own data is something no rival has.
@smagos from @MetaviewAI says that means beating the competition now comes down to how you use that data.
I just tried to call up Argos to see if they had something in stock and if I could come pick it up.
They pointed me to their website and told me they're unable to speak to me on the phone.
Absolutely terrible service, but my God, we are still so early.
Nvidia is the now the most active VC investor in the world, and the largest in Europe.
Crazy

He announced the news in London this evening.
Apologies for the terrible pic which includes @rowlsmanthorpe’s side profile
Meet Moritz Hollander: The German entrepreneur who started his company at 17 years old and is now doing ONE BILLION revenue run rate.
In 2020 Moritz Holländer, then aged 17, founded Almedia - a user acquisition platform focused on the gaming industry.
His company did $330m of revenue in 2025 and has just hit $1bn revenue run rate.
1bn revenue in under 6 years, entirely bootstrapped.
