It is with a heavy heart I said goodbye to my dear friend Ash Carter yesterday.
A brilliant mind, a dedicated public servant, and a devoted family man - the world is undoubtedly safer because of his efforts. It was a true privilege to spend so many years working alongside him.
Setsuko Thurlow was 13 years old when an atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. Now, at 90 years old, she fights to ban nuclear weapons.
On the 77th anniversary of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, let us honor the victims and survivors of this tragedy by working towards a world where nuclear weapons can never again be used on human beings.

I'm sharing this crane for Hiroshima and Nagasaki. For my grandchildren and great grandchildren. And for all children around the world who deserve a future free from the threat of nuclear annihilation.

During my term as Secretary of Defense, I facilitated the dismantlement of thousands of nuclear weapons in former Soviet states, including Ukraine.
I explain the logic behind this effort in the third episode of @AtTheBrinkPod: atthebrink.org/podcast/loose…
In honor of those who were lost in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and for the sake of all future generations, join me in daring to imagine a world free from the threat of nuclear weapons. #CranesForOurFuture

My granddaughter said I had to give my new sourdough starter a name, so I present to you Bill Bixler.
Named in honor of the head baker at my father's bakery, the Home Town Bakery in Butler, PA. This Bixler has made some wonderful bread, just like his namesake.
