I remember under the Boris government when misleading the house, deliberately or otherwise, was regarded as a heinous crime against the fabric of the state, against democracy itself.
An outrage requiring a standards inquiry intervention and the imposition of the most grievous sanctions.
So why is it that now, under this Labour government, and under the same @CommonsSpeaker, that misleading the house is of such inconsequence that it isn’t even worth a few minutes of his time to highlight it and correct the record?

I have spent my entire life fighting terrorism. My research, with Suella Braverman and Robert Jenrick at the helm, resulted in the very rare deportation of one of the most prominent Muslim Brotherhood terrorists.
Britain rarely deports the enemies who live among us. But, with these two, it actually happened.
I had been lobbying Conservative government ministers for years and getting nowhere.
With Robert and Suella, it felt as though we were finally getting somewhere. Then the Tories pushed them out of government, and later out of the party.
So, while I have some reservations about a few things at Reform, I have many more concerns about the Conservatives.
I had intended to remain independent, but that can no longer continue while the establishment declares war on Reform and the prospect of real change.

Starmer and Hermer's rotten deal to give Chagos and £billions of UK taxpayers' money to Mauritius has opened the door to a World of hurt for the UK.
The election of 🧧Professor Dapo Akande to the International Court of Justice swings that door wide open.
🧧Professor Akande, who backs the Chagos deal, has trained lawyers, diplomats, military officers, and other UK government officials in international law, including officials from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
A powerful, mainly unelected group with strong connections to the FCDO is deeply involved in pushing the Chagos deal.
🧧Antonia Romeo, the Cabinet Secretary who advised Burnham to continue Starmer's treacherous Chagos deal, has held major senior positions in the FCDO.
🧧Jonathan Powell, the National Security Advisor, who also pressed Burnham hard to continue with the Chagos deal, for which he was Keir Starmer's Special Envoy, had a long high-profile career at the FCDO, which funded his private consultancy company.
🧧Vijay Rangarajan, who led the civil service team during the Chagos negotiations with Mauritius, was FCDO Director.
🧧Nishi Dholakia, who was appointed Commissioner for the British Indian Ocean Territory (aka Chagos) in December 2024; was previously Deputy Director at the FCDO, and trade counsellor at the Beijing Embassy.
In common with Vijay Rangarajan and Nishi Dholakia, 🧧Uma Kumaran MP, the current Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Overseas Territories and Caribbean Under-Secretary of State in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, is of Indian heritage.
70% of Mauritius' population is of Indian origin.
The FCDO is responsible for British International Investment, which was formerly known as the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC).

In 2025 Mauritius' corruption index fell from 51 to 48, signaling a setback in the battle against corruption on the island.
Both Mauritius Prime Ministers, Navin Ramgoolam and Pravind Jugnauth, who negotiated the Chagos deal with Keir Starmer have been arrested on serious money-laundering and corruption charges in the their time.
