The safety net provided by NHS that's there for physical illness is not there for folks with #mentalhealth problems; it's like pre-NHS era.
Those of us who've been living in survival mode for a while have a head start on this stuff 😬

Did you know we have a wish list full of gifts for young people who will be spending the festive season in hospital this year due to mental ill health, distress and trauma? We'd love you to buy a gift to ensure no young person feels forgotten by Santa

Another 🧵on the 111 mental health access lines.
Since the 111 m/h access lines have come into force, there has been widespread condemnation by the mental health community: they are simply not fit for purpose.
Your initial port of call is with an access worker. They are offen

Very good overview of the Lampard Inquiry’s recent interim recommendations hearings on observations and the use of technology (particularly Oxevision- now LIO)
What does the evidence say about tech-based monitoring in mental health wards? Over the last year, the Lampard Inquiry has been scrutinising the evidence around the ethics, implementation, use, and harms caused by such a practice.
Following the conclusion of the Inquiry’s first set of hearings dedicated to potential interim recommendations, Associate Christina Ashibogu rounds up the critical evidence heard so far regarding the widespread use and potential misuse of the Oxevision technology at EPUT, highlighting urgent concerns around patient safety, consent models and clinical effectiveness.
Observations are a critical part of patient treatment, but they have to be done according to individual need and with patient safety and dignity at the forefront of care.

More from Hat Porter's evidence to the Lampard Inquiry last year where they spoke to the current regulatory landscape that has allowed Oxevision to be embedded unchecked in English mental health wards.
Anyone got a good recipe for slow cooker green tomato chutney? 🧑🍳
I've not made chutney before, but thought it'd be a good way to use up about a kilo of green tomatoes
I've harvested all the tomatoes as they won't ripen on the vine this late in the year & there could be frosts

Yesterday we put out a statement about lack of action from regulators on Oxevision. We quote from Hat Porter's evidence to the Lampard Inquiry last year. It should not take patients coming to harm for action to be taken and it should not be up to us as disabled people to do this
As the October 2026 hearings for this part of the Lampard Inquiry end, we reflect on the regulation of Oxevision and similar ‘innovations’. What happens when no one thinks it’s their job to take action?

the @ASA_UK complaint I made was upheld about Do Health @drchatterjeeuk. Commercial screening brings false positives, false reassurance, overdiagnosis.
Will the @gmcuk act on the dozens of drs making false claims and have commercial conflicts of interests?

Finally, we explain why it is not sustainable to rely on a system of public inquiries to intervene in order to make our healthcare system safe. It should not take patients coming to harm for action to be taken.

We also have an invoice for NHS England for services delivered over the course of our campaign and reflect on the public bodies, charities, regulators, and professional bodies who failed to take action when it mattered.
