Israel is already providing huge value to everyday Californians, from fire detection, to building cooling, to drought proof farming, to the digital maps that we couldn’t live without.
But ours isn’t just a relationship based on mutual economic and environmental interests: the fate of Israel and the safety of Jewish communities here and around the world are intertwined.
We can rise together. And we have no better leader to take the helm in the western US, especially here in Los Angeles, than Ambassador Ephraim. From the shadow of the Shoah, his family built a new life in Israel, and he somehow emerged from more wars of survival, as an agent of peace, from Lima to The Hague and now here in California. May your time of service here be blessed @AmbModiEphraim
It was a pleasure meeting with @SenHenryStern today for a thoughtful discussion on strengthening the California-Israel partnership and safeguarding the future of Jewish life in California.
California and Israel share a unique spirit of innovation, entrepreneurship, and resilience. From technological advancement and economic development to environmental stewardship and sustainability, our shared strengths—and the challenges we face—present important opportunities for deeper collaboration and mutual benefit.
Senator Stern has been an important voice in advancing these priorities, while demonstrating steadfast leadership in confronting the rise of antisemitism and safeguarding the future of Jewish life in California. Our discussion underscored the importance of not only responding to the challenges facing Jewish communities today, but also fostering the conditions in which they can thrive for generations to come.
Grateful to Senator Stern for his friendship, principled leadership, and enduring commitment to strengthening the bonds between California and Israel.

Thanks for your leadership @MoniqueLimonCA @Scott_Wiener @CAgovernor for getting the UC science bond done! This is a huge opportunity to double down on the research that drives California’s economy and the health and safety of our people and planet.

Here's the truth: Steve Hilton welcomes immigrants that look like him, but wants to deport immigrants that look like me.

You earned this confirmation @lsanchez020! Proud to have supported you. Thanks for steadying our state through tumultuous times, and showing the world how California is putting clean air and affordable energy within reach for working moms like you!
“Every regulation, every incentive, every program is ultimately about the air that my son & every child in CA will breathe as they grow up.”
At her confirmation hearing, Chair @lsanchez020 shared the personal commitment behind her work & why CA must keep fighting for cleaner air.

Your gas receipt shows the price, but not the full story.
Global oil markets, taxes, refinery changes & consumer protections all play a role in what Californians pay at the pump.
What really fuels gas prices? The facts might surprise you.

🚨 HISTORIC: The CA Legislature just passed SB 1387 (Stern)! The bill passed the Assembly 62-0, with 17 abstentions, and the Senate 38-0, with 2 abstentions.
California is now on the verge of becoming the first state in the nation to recognize Jewish identity as an ethnicity in law. Thank you to Senator Stern for authoring this bill.
The bill now heads to Governor Newsom, who has until September 30 to sign it into law. #JewishCalifornia
Thank you @CAForestry for slogging through a long, arduous rulemaking to finally get Zone 0 regulations done.
NEW: California just adopted new Zone 0 regulations — a key step toward making more homes resilient to wildfire.
This science-backed standard will help reduce risk and protect more homes. Congratulations to @CAForestry for their tireless work to get this done.

This weekend, @LACOFD lifeguards made two dramatic riptide rescues in the treacherous waters off Venice Beach. Which led me to the surprising discovery that CA lifeguards are not given first responder status.
@SenHenryStern is working to change that with SCR 192 legislation, a bill that (for once) will not cost taxpayers anything but will give lifeguards the honor they earn daily.

Appreciate the FEMA collaboration in the wake of this disaster. Disasters are not partisan. Our responses can’t be either.
NEW: California just secured a Presidential Emergency Declaration for the Garden Grove hazmat incident.
Working closely with local responders, the state has moved aggressively to protect residents in the impacted area.
This morning, @OCFireAuthority announced that the risk of a massive explosion has been mitigated. This new federal assistance will further bolster our resources to help resolve this situation.
VCFD along with CAL FIRE is on scene of a 1-acre brush fire along Adams Canyon Fire Road west of Santa Paula. Forward progress has been stopped thanks to an aggressive and coordinated attack from the air and ground.
Firefighters will be on scene for the next 3-4 hours mopping up hot spots and ensuring the fire is completely extinguished. There are no reported injuries to firefighters or
civilians, no structures threatened or damaged and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

#SandyFire Air Quality Update: Due to the Sandy Fire’s proximity to the Santa Susana Field Laboratory area, air quality monitoring is being conducted around the fire perimeter. Monitoring equipment has been proactively deployed to establish background air quality readings and to help assess conditions should the fire advance further into the area. At this time, the fire has not crossed into the Field Laboratory property.
Air monitoring information helps incident personnel and public health officials evaluate smoke and air conditions and provide timely updates to the community.

Thank you @CAgovernor for working with @FEMA to support our fight against the #SandyFire. Praying for the warriors at @VCFD_PIO and all through the ranks of the unified command in their battle tonight.
California just secured a Fire Management Assistance Grant via @FEMA to bolster our response to the #SandyFire in Ventura County.
As we continue to mobilize resources to protect communities, I urge Californians in impacted areas to follow guidance from local officials.

It’s clear we are in a climate crisis—one that demands action, not rollbacks.
That’s why my colleagues and I are urging the California Air Resources Board to strengthen Cap-and-Invest—and reject changes that would weaken it, jeopardize pollution targets, and divert billions from wildfire prevention and utility bill relief.
No delays. No rollbacks. Read the full letter: link in bio → “Press Releases.”
