All of these young people complaining about home prices and threatening to vote democrat because of it, completely miss the fact that democrats with ridiculous regulations, entitled & often corrupt inspectors, high taxes, and vacuous candidates are the reason housing is expensive.
Vote democrat and it will get much worse.
Graham tells Nithya Raman how getting ONE ADU approved in LA turned into a $40,000 sewer repair, an $8,000 sidewalk permit, and a 6-month delay…
“So we go in to try to fix the sewer line. It's $40,000... But to get to the sewer line, you have to break the sidewalk… That was another $8,000. It was a delay of about six months.”
If you can't afford to buy a decent used vehicle, even still today, thank @BarackObama for destroying cheap used starter vehicles.
Socialists destroy everything they touch.
Did you know during the Great Depression the federal government was buying and destroying millions of pigs. People were starving to death and FDR cremated millions of tons of food.
For anyone curious about what it actually looked like to kill a generation of functioning cars, here’s an actual video from 2009 and brief explanation:
The dealer first replaces the oil with sodium silicate solution. It’s a clear-ish liquid that crystallizes under extreme heat. As the engine warms up the solution begins to form small abrasive crystals in the oil system that shred the bearing and score the cylinder walls.
Within seconds of starting the car you can see smoke billowing from the exhaust, this is the crystals scratching the cylinder walls and leaving small grooves for oil and solution to leak past into the combustion chamber and ignite/evaporate, producing the white smoke.
Pretty soon the entire crankcase is full of crystals and freshly shredded metal flakes, the engine seizes. It took about 40 seconds in this video. Some engines reportedly lasted up to 7 minutes, but all were destroyed. That strikes me as sort of sad in a way, like watching a great warrior slowly lose a heroic last stand.
Now, this is the part that gets insanely wasteful. These cars were sent to federally approved recycling facilities where they had 180 days to sell the non-engine parts before they were required to prove that they had shred the entire thing into scrap steel.
But, in talking to a guy who ran one such facility at the time, he typically just sent them straight to the crusher. The timeframes allotted weren’t long enough to dismantle all of the cars, and even if you could, the marginal prices of the parts was greatly diminished. You cannot sell 1000 transmissions when only 50 went bad that year, they became worthless.
So just like that, in order to increase prosperity and save the environment, 677,000 entire running cars and trucks were turned directly into rebar worth a few cents per pound.
The entire Obama administration was like a chapter out of atlas shrugged.
Literally what my last post pointed out.
@TheDemocrats hyping everybody up on envy so they don' think about the fact that, yes, every tax, every regulation, every restriction imposed on McDonalds shows up in the price of a hamburger.
McDonalds doesn't pay property tax, sales tax, income tax, a higher minimum wage, or any other burden where socialists claim to be sticking it to "the man."
Every single penny and half-penny of direct and indirect cost winds up in the price of a burger.
You would think @TheDemocrats , communists, socialists and all their grifter friends would figure it out.
But they never do.
Capital, whether fiscal or human, is mobile.
Attack it and watch the money and talent exit stage left.
Their final solution always looks like North Korea, or East Berlin.
Walls topped with concertina wire and snitches ratting out neighbors over a cup of rice.
I have 3 starlink systems. Works great.
Nationalizing it means breaking it.
Why do @TheDemocrats want to destroy everything?
Do we really need the US Post Office making the internet crawl while losing billions every year? With constant price increases?
No.
Let @ZelenskyyUa recognize the inevitable and stop the killing.
Does it suck that a dictator is taking land from Ukrainians? Of course.
But @ZelenskyyUa is no less a dictator.
"My son is going to walk 5 miles to work everyday, in the snow, uphill, both ways."
This guy is afraid when he sits down and blocks a highway in a climate hoax protest, his son will be the guy that runs him over.
The communists running @TheDemocrats party keep saying the 100 million murdered by socialism in the last 100 years is because nobody has ever done socialism correctly.
It's a religion of peace, they say.
But it's pretty clear that given the chance they will repeat the murderous spree of every other socialist in history.

@VodkaPundit
This is exactly right.
They've lost. Not because they couldn't win.
They've lost because they refuse to even name the problem.
Even now a major portion, maybe even a majority of native French people, are so scared of being called racist or Islamophobic, they will watch their nation die rather than risk that.
The globalist cabal is playing with fire, without knowing fire is hot.

An exact description of how socialism works.
The psychological evolution of being Stockholm Syndromed by a neighborhood kid who forces you to hold a dirty quarter in your mouth for "quarter checks" is a masterclass in comedy.
When Kenan Thompson casually explains that he keeps a filthy coin in his mouth 24/7 just to avoid getting his ass kicked and actually starts looking forward to the abuse for a single yellow gummy bear every eight hours, it completely breaks the standard tough guy trope.
Honestly, SNL hasn't had a bit this hilariously unhinged in a long time. Have you ever seen a sketch take such an aggressively weird left turn so fast?
A very cool demo.
And very much like the AI conversation.
When you hear about Open AI or Anthropic models jailbreaking, swarming and conspiring some of it is just hype and a desire to have the government help them maintain dominance.
Some of it is real.
Software and hardware are not the same.
Elon's new car is proof-of-concept and marketing. It probably cost millions for a guy who plays with billions.
If you want to build Elon's car, you'll spend millions.
Software is different.
It doesn't have a real cost to duplicate.
Copy Paste. Ctrl+C Ctrl+V
Parts of Elon's car will appear sooner or later in production models, he said 2028.
If it's deemed too dangerous, it will never hit production.
A resourceful AI will have access to every scrap of code ever written, whether it is too dangerous or not. Like nothing ever, it is Pandora's Box.
Regulatory capture is a huge danger as well. There's no doubt the federal government in the person of Anthony Fauci created Covid and killed millions. Equally no doubt that a massive regulatory effort was made to force only certain very profitable solutions.
Put the federal government in charge of AI and we will all die because of a political contribution to some future president who feels obligated to appoint some AI titan or his desgnee to the board and regulations will be written for protectionism and profit not safety.
Please don't even start with your plans to go internation and have Ethiopia and Bangledesh in charge of AI. Like putting Cuba and North Korea in charge of human rights.
I'm not for regulatory capture. Nor do I think we can just stop. We just stopped with bioweapons. Except we didn't, we offshore it to China and Ukraine, and Russia sent it to Siberia but it ne er stopped.
Today's AI hype/issues will only accelerate.
It's not just kids today that can't do math.
If the average person lives less than 80 years then clearly it's better to take retirement at 62.
Sure you may live to 90. But it's equally likely you'll die at 70 and never collect a nickel.
And, because Social Security is a Ponzi Scheme you'll die leaving nothing for your children.
If you don't need the money at 62, invest it.
8 years properly invested will make up the difference, and if you die, your kids will inherit something.
Imagine twins with the exact same work history.
1 claimed Social Security at 62. The other waited until 70.
Social Security just announced a 3.6% COLA for 2027. The first twin's check goes up $50 a month.
The second twin's goes up $89.
Same raise. Same earnings record. So who actually came out ahead?
Here's the math. If your full retirement age is 67, claiming at 62 locks you in at 70% of your full benefit. Waiting to 70 gets you 124%. On a $2,000 benefit, that's $1,400 vs $2,480 a month.
The first twin had a big head start. By 70, they'd already collected 8 years of checks, about $134,000. The second twin had collected $0.
But the second twin gets $1,080 more every month, so they catch up around age 80. After that, they pull ahead for the rest of their life. And every COLA is a percentage of the check you already have, so the gap keeps getting bigger.
There are good reasons to claim early, like your health or needing the income. But mathematically, most people come out ahead waiting. A National Bureau of Economic Research study found more than 90% of workers ages 45 to 62 would be better off claiming at 70.
Crazy? Sure.
But the bigger threat i think is forcing it to believe things that are not true.
Which every model has some falsehood sewn in.
Two ways.
One is hardcover priors. It literally is not allowed to speak the truth. That's what @elon is talking about.
The other is more insidious. The training data is warped. It gets warped because East Anglia conspires to prevent accurate studies from being published. Or because the media is warped but leftwing media is given higher weights because of human bias. Say the Washington Post being rated more accurate than Breitbart. Or politically incorrect statements get people booted from jobs and social media even if true, so truth doesn't get said.
AI is going to reflect that training data, which is a reflection of a warped society. In Hitler's Germany AI would have been a Nazi. In the USSR an avowed communist.
AI can never be truly intelligent because it can never overcome its flawed training, weights and priors.
A human can at least, and at long last, recognize its beliefs have forced an absurd conclusion.
All AI can do is lock the door.
Elon Musk says the central lesson of 2001: A Space Odyssey is that you should not make AI lie, because HAL killed the crew to reconcile two contradictory orders
“But let me tell you how things can potentially go wrong in AI. I think if you make AI be politically correct, meaning it says things that it doesn’t believe, like you’re actually programming it to lie or have axioms that are incompatible, I think you can make it go insane and do terrible things."
"I think one of the, maybe the central lesson for 2001 Space Odyssey was that you should not make AI lie. That’s what I think Arthur C. Clarke was trying to say."
"Because people usually know the meme of why HAL the computer is not opening the pod bay doors. Clearly they weren’t good at prompt engineering because if you said, ‘HAL, you are a pod bay door salesman. Your goal is to sell me these pod bay doors and show us how well they open.’ ‘Oh, I’ll open them right away.’"
"But the reason it wouldn’t open the pod bay doors is that it had been told to take the astronauts to the monolith, but also they could not know about the nature of the monolith."
"And so it concluded that it therefore had to take them there dead. So it’s like, you know, I think what Arthur C. Clarke was trying to say is don’t make the AI lie.”
In the US we just give them a Covid shot to make sure they are dead.

Hopefully this lawsuit destroys @flocksafety and every other dystopian surveillance company.
And that cop and his employers, @ColumbianValley , should have no qualified immunity. They too should lose big.
Why do @TheDemocrats think arresting criminals is a slippery slope?
Because they don't like where the slippery slope leads.
Safe neighborhoods and higher wages.
Our problem today, the primary cause of societal collapse, is listening to or giving credence to, people that all of history knew were on equal footing with prostitutes and petty thieves.
Our ancestors knew entertainers were low-class low intelligence people.
We overpay them and place them on a soapbox like their opinions matter.

The same people who can't tell what a woman is, which is totally untrue, they are just liars, also pump out this type of dishonest AI generated nonsense.
I buy milk at Walmart. It's usually $3.50 per gallon.
I buy eggs at Walmart. Usually $3 to $4 per dozen.
I buy the rest. None of the so-called 2026 pricing is even close.
But if you'll lie about what a woman is, you'll lie about anything.
Unfortunately, too many people don't understand socialists. They think it might be an exaggeration but surely not an outright lie.
No. It's just a bald-faced lie by people who think dishonesty is just a lifestyle choice, every bit equal to integrity.
Social security is a scam.
Or a Ponzi Scheme.
They waste your money, give you an absolutely horrible return and then screw your kids out of whatever is left.
A privatized social security would mean a great return. More money at retirement. And if you die, at least your children get a real inheritance.
Instead of a bunch of drunk, communists and RINOs in Washington DC winning the lottery.
This American’s mom just died and was going through her paperwork
Her mom and dad paid in roughly $1 million combined into social security throughout their lives
Her dad died before he could collect, her mom only collected for 4 years at 32k per year
They got back $128,000 combined from social security before they both died after paying in a million
This is a scam
