3% to 30%…the cost of war risk #OOTT
Normally, the combined cost of freight and insurance represents around 3% of the total cost of crude or petroleum products. By the end of January 2026, the total share of freight and insurance for very large crude carriers (VLCCs) from the Middle East to East Asia was around 5% of the total cost. By the end of October 2026, however, this share averaged 30% of the total cost. These exceptionally elevated costs are, in turn, transmitted across the entire value chain. They increase and prolong the cost burden on producing and consuming countries and place additional inflationary pressures on the global economy. 🧵
Readers added context they thought people might want to know

If you want to know why Texas went blue? Because Abbott and the rest of the government stopped being accountable to the people. They took their constituents for granted. They treated it as a shoe-in one party system. You saw it when Abbott took an unpopular school voucher system that was rejected time after time, and he shoved it through. Going so far as to help primary Republicans where vouchers made zero sense and hurt their constituents. You could see it in how they got so arrogant that they ditched an incumbent for a guy who every Republican whose worked in politics for a long time has told me is one of the most corrupt politicians in recent history. Of course, the broader environment, inflation, war, etc. played a huge role. But the absolute arrogance and dismissing of the people is why the once thought to be impossible is now reality. And that’s a good thing. Politicians should be accountable to their people. There needs to be an incentive to serving those who elected you. That’s how the system works.

I’m definitely going to enjoy watching Hegseth’s impeachment hearings. @RepThomasMassie only needs 2 more signatures and I would bet he already knows who’s ready to pen.
BREAKING: SWEET REVENGE! The Navy Admiral who Pete Hegseth fired DEFEATS her MAGA opponent to win a House seat in South Carolina — cementing the blue tsunami with a poetic flourish! This is just too beautiful... Democrat Nancy Lacore, a 35-year Navy veteran who rose through the ranks from helicopter pilot to become Chief of Navy Reserve, was fired in August of 2025 amid Hegseth's purging of high-ranking women in the military. While no official reason was given, the deeply misogynistic Hegseth has not been coy about his caveman belief that only testosterone-injecting men should serve. Lacore has now defeated Republican Jenny Costa Honeycutt to seize a seat that was formerly held by MAGA lunatic Nancy Mace who launched a failed bid for the governor's mansion this year. Lacore has not been shy about criticizing Hegseth's disastrous mismanagement of the Defense Department, particularly his failed Iran War. "Pete Hegseth is the most unqualified Secretary of Defense that we have ever had, and he is doing significant damage to our military that it will really take decades to undo," she said, adding that he "needs to go." The most beautiful irony here? Congresswoman Lacore could soon be voting with the rest of the Democratic majority in the House to impeach Pete Hegseth. We have subpoena power starting in January, so we'll be able to uncover all of the gross negligence and rampant criminality that he's overseen. Ain't karma grand? Please ❤️ and share if you support impeaching Pete Hegseth!

“The MAGA base is 100% of the Republican Party”….that’s because DJT’s ethics, policies and vulgarities ran the true conservatives out. @GOP and @TexasGOP you’ve lost sight of your core mandate
Trump trashes Fox News on Fox News and even takes a personal shot at Bret Baier. Baier tried to push back, but Trump wasn’t having it. BAIER: “Candidate quality, do you have regrets about Ken Paxton or Darlene Graham?” TRUMP: “I had no choice. Ken Paxton, he’s a good guy, and I just wasn’t a fan of Cornyn. I just wasn’t a fan. I found him to be a disloyal guy. He was not a fan of mine.” “You know, to be honest, when it wasn’t fashionable, he wasn’t there. You could say that about a lot of people. I could say that ABOUT YOU.” [Baier lets out an audible exhale] TRUMP: “When it wasn’t fashionable to be with Trump, he [Cornyn] wasn’t there. When it was fashionable, he kissed my ass, all right?” “The Fox polls are terrible. You ought to get yourself a good pollster, because your pollster is the worst.” BAIER: “But tonight actually the results are pretty close to what the Fox polls showed.” TRUMP: “I don’t know about that. I can just say, speaking for myself, the results with Fox with me were wrong for 12 years. They have gotten me wrong for 12 years, but I don’t care. It doesn’t matter.” Trump says he will accept tonight’s election results and work with Democrats if they’re willing to work with him.

🚨🇺🇸 NBC is forecasting a 75-seat Democratic majority in the House, bigger than the 2006 Iraq backlash or the 2010 Tea Party wave In 2006 Democrats picked up 31 seats on the Iraq War; in 2010 Republicans took 63 on Obamacare. Tonight's wave ran through Texas, Kansas and the Carolinas on an eight-month Iran war and $4 gas, and NBC's exit poll had 62 percent of voters disapproving of the president. A 75-seat margin means Jeffries doesn't need the socialists or the moderates to pass anything, it means the Iran oversight hearings start with a supermajority on every committee, and it means the 2028 map Republicans assumed for a decade got redrawn in one night. What’s coming was avoidable, but Republicans in Congress let Trump start a war, increase spending, arm a genocide, betray MAHA, and cover up for Epstein’s coconspirators. I was ousted with over $30 million of foreign lobby money for refusing to go along, and here we are.

As it should be. Rubio will have to wait for 2032. Vance has too much DJT stink on him.
Vance and Rubio’s Presidential hopes just died tonight. Hegseth is toast. The fallout from this is going to be epic.

No one needs to be a 4th term governor. The longer in office, the less they work for you. Abbott made too many sweetheart deals w/ crypto miners and data centers.
Do u know how awful republicans had to be for this to happen? Seriously. This is absolutely thanks to Trump being a full blown fraud

IMO this man losing his re-election was a wake up call for conservative leaning independents and traditional GOP voters. We are fed up w/ MAGA shoving bad candidates at us and expecting loyalty and straight ballot voting. MAGA FAFO #Election2026
Tonight’s outcome isn’t about placing faith in Democrats or socialist principles; it’s about holding Republicans accountable for betraying their promises. All Republicans had to do was: 1. put Americans First 2. not start another war 3. prosecute sex traffickers

It’s going to take some time and effort for the GOP to remove the MAGA stink. Just look at all the $$ Elon wasted on Paxton.
Massive and well deserved repudiation of an obviously mentally addled President who spent 2 years lying and thieving and taking for granted his mandate. Trump not only lied to us but did the exact opposite of what he promised. Although democratic rule is likely to be another sort of terrible, at least we can now reject MAGA and replace it with a true America first right wing party.
