What strikes me most about the continual softening, the cushioning of standards and the sanding down of peculiarities, is that (1) I think they might have served to improve retention and conversion metrics when they began, but (2) I suspect they now harm them. Much has changed

The funny part is we never actually built a system to prepare them for those jobs, either. So now we've got neither the economic security nor the close-knit community. But on the bright side, at least we've relieved everyone of the terrible burden of expectations.

WOMEN GOT EVERY NET NEW JOB IN AMERICA SINCE DECEMBER 2024
US payrolls grew by 728,000 from December 2024 to September 2026. Women gained 729,000. Men lost 1,000.
Health care and social assistance added 1,057,000. Every other industry combined lost 329,000.
We traded the ambition of building a close-knit Zion for the promise of better jobs and a respectable place in American society. A century later, young Latter-day Saints can barely afford marriage or children, and the communities that might have sustained them are hollowed out.

I’m in a very small minority of dads that get let out of the house after work and it’s to go play table tennis. I was talking about it with another dad and we both concluded that both of our wives seem to crash out when they’re home alone with the kids for extended periods of time in a way that we just don’t. Like we have no issues putting on Bluey, airfrying the nice Costco chicken nuggets, passing out some crayons and cracking a beer.
My wife plays volleyball in a women’s league once a week and nobody notices or cares when she’s gone. When I go play table tennis once a week I literally have my kids begging me not to go and my wife quietly hoping I’ll just skip it. It’s not that there’s some conspiracy against men or anything, it’s just what seems to be happening in families these days.
For instance, I have met a lot of dads that were into Warhammer growing up, and there’s interest in starting to play together, but I just don’t see too many guys with the ability to, build, paint, and play an army.
I guess what I’m getting at is that there’s an almost autistic fixation on fairness when it comes to getting to do extracurricular activities and a lot of couples seem to find parity by doing absolutely nothing, that way there’s no argument about who’s getting out of the house more. This leads us to our current situation where married ppl just socialize a lot less than they used to.

I’ve told the story on here that on one of my hockey teams, there’s 2-3 dads who hang for a beer or two after our games then get the text telling them to get home and they damn near burn rubber out of the parking lot

Feminism actively discouraged the one thing most people find the most fulfillment from: starting a family.
Social standards are good and useful in providing guidance for young people who probably can’t figure out what they want from life on their own. It’s fine if a woman would rather be a doctor or whatever, but it’s better society expects her to be a mom and is ok with her having a reason not to be one.
One of the biggest problems in society today
On a primitive level, women don't want to be wives and mothers - they want a bunch of things that in the "Environment of Evolutionary Adaptedness" would *lead to* her being some man's wife
All the things that would lead to that *feel good* to her and so she'll keep doing them over and over for years until she actually has a conscious thought that this is not satisfying and so she'll change her approach
Since this isn't in line with what "feels natural" she will be resentful the entire time

Indians were given American taxpayer backed loans to buy the businesses that American citizens could never qualify
There were also given home mortgages that didn't require American based credit reports. Americans couldn't qualify for these either

You really are kind of blind to how much more public spaces favor dogs over children until you have children and then it becomes appalling. It’s like getting a pair of those sunglasses in “They Live” and then becoming actually aware of the world you’ve always lived in.

Healthy things grow and reproduce. Since our society is sick, no amount of scolding or bribery will fix the fertility crisis. We need to heal.

Pretty incredible that they lead with “Its not about duty” and then the opening stat is about Orthodox Jews having no absolutely no issues.
After surveying nearly 10,000 people, the Deseret News prescription is grandparents sharing happy stories, friends celebrating babies, and religious leaders preaching more warmly. Okay, so now what? Do we just preach a little harder?
The column warns that “throwing money at the baby bust” fails. Yet the report cites remote work as a way to boost births and proposes childcare subsidies and financial aid. The proposals that could change outcomes require money or institutions to change. Why omit them?
