The PNAC committee was all about reviving the Mackinder roadblocks. The middle East, US, and obviously the Russians eye the EU energy market. It was always about controlling oil and gas.

It's all about geography. The West can't afford to give it up to Eurasia.

They were all unwilling to provide an alternative to Jewish questions and the lobbying by the US and UK. The Soviet union offered alternatives but the Brits would have none of it.

The US can't end sanctions because US oil and gas will be replaced by Qatar. The US wants a monopoly of the same over Europe. Unless that is Qatar offers a payment to US oil and gas companies (some percentage of its revenue)
