My dad once commented that “Ataturk” sounds like someone praising a very good Turk. Like “attaboy.” I chuckled off a piece of nonsense dad humor. Years later I learned that’s more or less exactly what it means.

Congratulations to Fillip Hrgovic. He’s all class. Itauma was an asshole during fight week, but the Croatian kept his cool and stick to his game plan. Great job by Abel and Leonard Sanchez in the corner tonight. What a great story.
If you want to know why you have never been richer on paper but never been poorer just look at Japan
The way the wealth gets taken from you isnt nominally its in real terms
You will recognise it in Japan right now where people in Japan still make same yen but lost alot of purchasing power overseas due to exchange rates. Thats already happening to western currencies - when things get bad it wont be because nominal prices are down its because purchasing power is declining rapidly
Remember also that when any fiat based system crashes and people lose their wealth its not the way you think
It does not end with markets crashing down it ends with markets hitting ath to ath into hyperinflation not in a crash down
Crashes only happen in healthy markets!
Remember that the yen, won, yuan all once started as low denominated currencies starting at 1. Now 1000 is 1.
The west doesnt end with people with no money it ends with everyone being millionaires
I got one of my dogs who rarely barks
looks like a wolf, sounds like a sled dog
some cat has figured him right out & is actively taunting him from the boundary fence
that cat has him barking more in 4 hours than I heard in years haha

I’m sure people used to drive a lot faster.
Is this an EV thing or energy price thing but going the speed limit in France and the UK now means overtaking 99.9% of people. The M40 used to feel like the autobahn

Charlie Munger:
"Victor Niederhoffer was the son of a police lieutenant, and he needed to get A’s at Harvard. But he didn’t want to do any serious work at Harvard, because what he really liked doing was, one, playing world-class checkers; two, gambling in high-stakes card games, at which he was very good, all hours of the day and night; three, being the squash champion of the United States, which he was for years; and, four, being about as good a tennis player as a part-time tennis player could be.
This did not leave much time for getting A’s at Harvard so he went into the Economics Department. You’d think he would have chosen French poetry. But remember, this was a guy who could play championship checkers. He thought he was up to outsmarting the Harvard Economics Department. And he was. He noticed that the graduate students did most of the boring work that would otherwise go to the professors, and he noticed that because it was so hard to get to be a graduate student at Harvard, they were all very brilliant and organized and hard working, as well as much needed by grateful professors.
And therefore, by custom, and as would be predicted from the psychological force called reciprocity tendency, in a really advanced graduate course, the professors always gave an A. So Victor Niederhoffer signed up for nothing but the most advanced graduate courses in the Harvard Economics Department, and of course, he got A, after A, after A, after A, and was hardly ever near a class. And for a while, some people at Harvard may have thought it had a new prodigy on its hands. That’s a ridiculous story, but the scheme will work still. And Niederhoffer is famous: they call his style “Niederhoffering the curriculum.”

🚨🇮🇪 UPDATE: Law Student Charged After Suspected Bomb Intercepted Near Irish Border
A 25-year-old law student has been charged after Irish police intercepted a vehicle carrying what authorities say was a viable explosive device near the border with Northern Ireland.
🔹 Isobella Perrie Sullivan, from Clane, County Kildare, appeared before Trim District Court charged with possession of explosives.
🔹 Gardaí allege she was driving a car stopped near Carrickmacross, County Monaghan, on Wednesday as part of an operation targeting dissident republican activity.
🔹 Officers told the court they discovered a bag containing a timing power unit, a detonator and suspected Semtex plastic explosive in the vehicle.
🔹 The Irish Defence Forces later examined the device and declared it to be a viable bomb, according to evidence presented in court.
🔹 Defence lawyers said Perrie Sullivan, who is studying law and hopes to become a barrister, was asked to transport a bag to Northern Ireland and was unaware of its contents.
⚖️ Court Ruling
🔹 The judge indicated bail could be granted subject to a €15,000 independent surety, surrender of her passport, a curfew, daily reporting to Gardaí and other conditions.
🔹 She was remanded in custody, with a further bail hearing scheduled for Monday.
👀 Why It Matters: The case comes amid heightened security efforts targeting dissident republican groups operating on the island of Ireland. The allegations remain unproven, and the defendant has not entered a plea.
