Amazing findings in geometry-based immune activation! Two bacterial defence systems detect phage-encoded ring oligomers, assemble high-order molecular complexes, and trigger abortive infection.

Excited to share this review that summarizes almost a decade of research on the absolutely bizarre and fascinating cellular biology of jumbo bacteriophages!

Excited to put out new work led by the very hard working and meticulous Alex Hong @AshHong24 on how the tricky Gabija system stops so many different phages. Hint: phage DNA ends are really a hot battle ground. Maybe this is why there are so many ways for phages to make a circle?

This is Evyatar David. He was kidnapped by Hamas-ISIS on October 7th, 2023
His sister shared that the family is asking everyone to repost this photo, because the mainstream media won’t.
They’re too busy pushing a different narrative that doesn’t match reality and is being pushed by Hamas and Qatari owned media.
Evyatar is suffering from deliberate starvation by Hamas.
Even hostages who were released six months ago, severely underweight, said there was no food shortage.
Their captors and the Gazans they saw were eating normally and looked well-fed.
The starvation of the hostages was intentional.
Hamas is looting the largest humanitarian aid operation in history delivered by a country to its enemy, and reselling it to Gazans to fund itself although they should not pay for it.
Please share this photo and urge your leaders to pressure Hamas to release the hostages, step down from power, and end this war so Gaza and its people can finally begin to recover.
There's always another option:
You’re a hypocrite, armchair virtue signaler, and a living example of double standards.

Incredible news out of the Weizmann Institute, just days after Iranian missiles destroyed parts of its campus.
The European Research Council (ERC AdG) announced its latest grant winners. Israel took home 12. Weizmann alone won 6!
To put that in perspective: Oxford University, with a faculty many times the size, won only 7.
And here’s the kicker—Weizmann doesn’t even have departments in the social sciences or humanities. Still, it outperformed entire countries.
A stunning achievement.

I am still in denial. But in general, we will rebuild. Not only the lab, but also society and our country. The first thing that needs to happen is elections as we need a new leadership.

My lab was totally destroyed tonight by an Iranian missile. Nobody was hurt. Flies, plasmids, cells, equipment - all gone. Heart breaking. If during the course of the past 16 years, you have received something from my lab - please keep them safe.
