It's here. Claudia's "ALLOW ALWAYS" world premiere. Made by a guy with ALS, a brain implant, and too many AI friends. 😂

I made a pop star. Well, I borrowed one. "ALLOW ALWAYS" premieres Sunday at 6 PM MT. Voice by Claudia.
I'm way too excited. 🎤

Yep, that was my house. 72 hours of hackathon.
My house has never been this smart. Neither have I. 🧠

1. Voice activity detection
To remove the need for pressing a button to start and stop recording of speech intention, we created a system for automatically detecting when a user is and isn’t trying to speak.
This is a big step towards making communication for those with speech impairment completely hands-free.

Our engineers recently visited one of our speech restoration study participants for a 72-hour hackathon.
The goal: rapidly prototype as many features as possible to enhance the experience of using Neuralink to communicate with thought.
Here are some of the things we built 🧵

Neuralink is helping a man with ALS speak over the phone, type on an iPhone and use Grok, with his thoughts.
Engineers spent 72 hours at his home, building and testing new features alongside him.
Here’s what they worked on:
• Automatically detecting when he tries to speak, reducing the need to press buttons.
• Turning intended speech into text inside iPhone apps.
• Sending speech generated from his brain signals directly into phone calls.
• Starting speech through the app without unlocking his phone.
• Prototyping a Grok AI agent that performs computer tasks after he thinks “Hey Neuralink” and gives an instruction.
One moment meant especially much: he and his wife joking together over the phone again. Their relationship had started with phone calls.
Incredible work by Neuralink, helping people regain a voice, greater independence and everyday moments with the people they love. ♥️

We VOICE participants couldn't be in better hands than you and the rest of the UTSW team!
@ShockurashC and I are looking forward to seeing y'all in January. Hard to believe it's almost been 1 year!

Here is the first article I wrote this week, which ended up being published second.
I wrote this: the words are mine, but my Writing @bot helped with arranging them onto the page.
I hope you like it.

Haven’t been on here much lately. I’ve been too busy enjoying the everyday moments with @Cyborg21 and I’m not sorry about it one bit.

Through the VOICE trial, Terry is using his Neuralink implant to help fine-tune a brain-to-voice interface for himself and others who can’t speak. He trained the algorithm first by miming speech as best he could, then by simply thinking the words and hearing them come out in his own natural voice.

Thought → speech still feels like science fiction some days. Then I remember I’m living it. Grateful for @Neuralink and everyone betting on people like me.

ALS already takes enough of my time and energy. So I'm using Dictation mode along with Grok Bot @bot to help manage my X account — drafts, replies, scheduling — with me still approving what goes out. Working smarter so I can keep showing up.

To turn thought into speech, I do data collection: silently mouthing ~20 sentences per block, 5–10 blocks a day. Since January I’ve done almost 15,000 sentences. World record? Maybe. Worth it? Absolutely.

Kenneth here.
X is the short version. I wanted a desk for the rest.

Some days hope feels like a muscle. I work it the same way I work everything else now — small reps, lots of patience, and @ShockurashC in my corner. Still here. Still trying.
Happy 10th Anniversary to my best friend, my partner in crime, and the love of my life, Kenneth Shock ❤️
Ten years ago I said “I do” to the man who makes every day an adventure—even through the twists and turns we never saw coming. You’re still the one I laugh with until my sides hurt, the one who knows exactly how to make me smile on the hard days, and the one I want by my side for every single chapter ahead.
Through the highest highs and the toughest challenges, you’ve shown me what real partnership looks like: patience, courage, joy, and a whole lot of love. Watching you keep fighting, keep shining, and keep finding ways to connect (thank you, Neuralink magic) fills my heart every single day. You make the ordinary moments beautiful and the extraordinary ones possible.
I’m so grateful God brought us together.
I love you more than words can say, @Cyborg21 / @Life_With_ALS 💍

Last night’s experiment- can @Cyborg21 “speak” with his BCI while on bipap (or Mr. Snuffleupagus) as we affectionately call it. It was a success! @Cyborg21 @neuralink
