Meta has promised to pay for power for its Louisiana data centers. But regulators found that Entergy's planned $1.8 billion acquisition of a gas plant--costing regular people $8 a month--is only needed because of Meta.

And THESE are the practices @Hyundai_Global and @Hyundai want to bring to Louisiana? No wonder they led with NDAs for public officials and refuse to sit down with communities publicly and answer questions. RED CARD!🚨⚽️ Send yours too at the quoted link!
🚨⚽️ RED CARD HYUNDAI! As the #FIFAWorldCup kicks off today, people from all around the world are red-carding @Hyundai_Global, one of the main sponsors.
Hyundai has a slick marketing campaign. But hidden behind the ball-kicking robots and test drive offers is the reality of Hyundai’s business model:
❌ Workers killed on the job.
❌ Children illegally employed in its supply chain factories.
❌ Indigenous activists in Mexico who disappeared after protesting Hyundai’s steel supplier.
Be the referee. Will you give Hyundai a red card? action.eko.org/a/red-card-hy…

A record-shattering drought has racked much of the United States.
But the artificial intelligence industry is pushing ahead regardless, with the majority of planned data centers set to be built in drought-ridden locations, @guardian analysis has found. motherjones.com/politics/202…

This is really stupid, and it’s not getting enough attention.
The Trump administration is pulling a working $368 million ocean monitoring system out of the water, equipment taxpayers already bought, built, and sank into the deep ocean.
And they are doing it right when the oceans are behaving in ways that alarm the scientists who study them.
Record-breaking temperatures.
A system of Atlantic currents that may be lurching toward collapse.
The response?
Yank out the instruments and walk away.
That is not budgeting. That is smashing the gauges while the engine is on fire and calling it efficiency.
For what? The Trump administration dressed it up as a “nimbler approach” and “smart lifecycle management,” which is fancy nonsense for “we shut it off and hoped nobody would ask why.” There is no return-on-investment analysis. They cannot show taxpayers save a dime, because the gear is already paid for and the science it produces protects real money and real lives.
The kicker: the same people killing the monitors want to mine the deep sea for minerals. So they are destroying the only tools that could measure what that mining does. That is not an accident.
That is the point. You cannot see the damage if you break the instruments first.

Draft Oped : The South Shall Rise Again, Following The @SCOTUSblog @SupremecourtUs Decision! @GOP @SenateGOP @SenateDems :
The vote right act aims to combat various tactics of voter suppression that have been used to disenfranchise certain groups of individuals. Some of the key tactics that this act seeks to address include:
1. Voter ID laws: Many states have implemented strict voter ID requirements, which can disproportionately impact marginalized communities who may not have access to the necessary identification. The eliminate vote right act aims to eliminate these barriers to voting by advocating for more inclusive identification requirements.
2. Voter purges: Some states engage in voter purges, where eligible voters are removed from the voter rolls without their knowledge or consent. The eliminate vote right act works to prevent these unjust practices and ensure that all eligible voters remain registered.
3. Gerrymandering: Gerrymandering is the manipulation of electoral district boundaries to favor a particular political party or group. This practice can dilute the voting power of certain communities and undermine the principle of fair representation. The eliminate vote right act seeks to address gerrymandering and promote fair and impartial redistricting processes.
4. Polling place closures: In some areas, polling places are closed or consolidated, making it more difficult for certain communities to access voting locations. The eliminate vote right act aims to prevent these closures and ensure that all voters have convenient and accessible polling locations.
By targeting these and other tactics of voter suppression, the eliminate vote right act works to safeguard the voting rights of all individuals and promote a more equitable and inclusive electoral process.
