ALT Hello everyone, As many of you will have seen, the Prime Minister has called a general election here in the UK. All indications currently point to a massive loss by the Tory party which, after fourteen years of cruelty, is exactly what they deserve. It also means we're in for a rough campaign. To be clear, over the next six weeks we're going to see a lot of bombastic, manufactured culture war nonsense from both main parties. Some of the most powerful people in the country are going to be saying some of the cruellest stuff they can think of, specifically in the hopes it gets picked up by the tabloid press and appeals to right wing and / or bigoted voters. A lot of this stuff is going to target the most vulnerable people in society - the trans community and immigrants, including asylum seekers, especially. These comments will be hurtful, but they will also be designed to provoke a reaction.

ALT Please, for the sake of yourselves and for others within this community, I would ask you to be very considerate regarding anything you share related to the general election. We already know the Tories are gutless, or that Labour doesn't stand up for trans people - we don't need to see the latest throwaway remark they've thrown out in the hopes it will grant them more power within a fundamentally broken system of government. Good luck to us all between now and early July. Remember that you can see how best you can use your vote to oust the Tories by visiting stopthetories.vote
