Nice to meet you! a VR-focused creator. I want to give people experiences they wouldn't be able to have normally. Shaders and RE are my hobby.

If you're interested in trying out Custom Tonemap or other shaders I'm working on pre-release, I post updates in the SSSF Discord, which you can access here; discord.gg/uHJx4g629K They're also on Github/Gitlab too.

I'm working on a big update to Sky Canvas to improve the cloud lighting and add a layer of cirrus clouds. It makes the sky look a lot more filled out, which is quite nice. #vrchat #unity

Released a new map - Holtes City ~ Parum! vrchat.com/home/launch?world… Apparently, today is PSU's 20th anniversary... Wow... Let me know what you think! I put a lot of work into this world, so I hope you like it! #vrchat

New project! I'm porting the main hub areas of Phantasy Star Universe to VRchat. The first map I'm working on is Holtes City, Parum! I made a toolkit to load the game models and data files within Unity, so I can recreate things with great accuracy! #vrchat #unity

Small rant: If you have space to advertise your Patreon and thank your financial supporters, you have space to credit the people who made the stuff your work relies on! CC-BY, MIT, GPL, all of these licenses require attribution. So please don't forget it! #vrchat

For example, MIT license requires that the copyright notice and permission notice be included in all copies or substantial portions of the software. When you include a shader in your world, that's a copy of the software. It's no more special than using a CC-BY model or texture.

I'm tired of going into a world, seeing my work, seeing a biiig board of Patreon supporters, and no mention of my name anywhere, no credits for anything! It's not difficult to list off the shaders you've used. (At least put me in the VIP list.)

It feels petty to say so, but it just ain't fair otherwise. What you get for free is something I've poured hundreds of hours of work into; the least you can do is provide a shout out. Some donations would be nice as well. s-ilent.fanbox.cc/

Did you know that @d4rkpl4y3r_vr's d4rkAvatarOptimizer can merge multiple material slots together when uploading avatars? github.com/d4rkc0d3r/d4rkAva… It can merge materials using the same shader, even if their properties differ - they just need to follow some rules. #vrchat

I saw a bunch of posts about clothes and stuff using lots of materials, but with a process like this, the only real concern is real memory size. Didn't VRC say they were going to be making a tool like this as part of the upload process almost a year ago...?

Since we're already going through an elaborate build process for avatars, automated merging and compaction of material is totally feasible for most users. And if the packing is done well, the performance savings are immense! It just needs to be easy to use and people will do it.

Since I switched to Linux, I've been using Fooyin as a music player. But it lacks some chiptune formats. So I made a plugin for it to play MDX files! MDX is a MML-like format from the X68000. It plays music using the onboard YM2151 and PCM chip. github.com/s-ilent/fooyin-pl…

It's a niche subject, but I'm sure there are a few people out there that might find it useful! Though probably not most of my audience. Go, algorithm! Anyway, the plugin features a hardened playback engine so it won't crash and uses Nuked-OPM as the emulator for more accuracy.

Not to get super introspective, but it's amazing to think that this is something that's existed since before I was born, and I've been listening to the collection I have for longer than some of my friends have existed. Chiptunes are wonderful.

I made a script that might be useful for Linux users making VRC content! gist.github.com/s-ilent/067d… This fixes the issue in the Editor where pressing the TAB key would not advance to the next field in the inspector. (Continued...) #unity #vrchat

This is a workaround so there are some bugs/side effects. Pressing TAB in a multi-line text field will insert the "tab" character instead of advancing. Since 99% of the time I press Tab in Unity is to switch between number fields, I still find this pretty useful.

Incidentally, if anyone knows a good tool for taking screenshots on Linux within VR apps, please let me know! SteamVR's screenshot system does not work at all on Linux, which makes capturing images a huge pain. (I thought it was just my system, but it seems to be common?)

I finished playing through Metroid Prime in VR! (Using PrimedGun.) I'll be honest... I don't think I'll be able to play it again in non-VR form without feeling like something is missing. VR suits the game and the experience perfectly. But I didn't get any good screenshots. #vr

I made a new GPU lightmapper for Unity! It can work on NVIDIA and AMD GPUs, Windows and Linux, utilize hardware ray tracing, and it's free It already includes features like realtime preview, denoising, seam stitching, uv packing, VRCLightVolumes, with more planned Link below
