The GOAT 🐐. People throw around the term GOAT, as if it's common. It isn't. By every statistical and competitive measure, Ethan Elliott is the best pitcher in the HISTORY of LMU Baseball. Congratulations to Ethan on his induction to the LMU Hall of Fame. Well-deserved honor!

Nick Pappas, NFL Field Director, said that the field in Rio passed all guidelines, and the league has been in correspondence with the NFLPA and both teams about the surface. All in all, the lasting concern is the rainfall. Expect a slick surface, but it’s not expected to be inherently unsafe.

Applying an “anchor” or limiting degrees of freedom can be a quality tool to enhance an athletes proprioceptive feedback. BUT REMEMBER. While the constraint primes the proprioceptors, the permanent changes happen through implicit learning.

Roberto Clemente’s baseball fame transcended the sport and gave him a platform to give back. On the field he was one of the game’s all-time greats, amassing 3,000 hits and winning two World Series championships over 18 seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Off the field, Clemente lived with a philanthropic and charitable spirit. He saw his fame and fortune as a gift that could help provide for those less fortunate. In December 1972, Clemente organized a relief effort in his native Puerto Rico to aid victims of a devastating earthquake in Nicaragua. Clemente was preparing to deliver a plane full of supplies in person on New Year’s Eve. The plane crashed into the ocean shortly after takeoff. All five people on board were killed, including the great Roberto Clemente, who was only 38 years old. For both his great skill as a player and his character away from the field, Clemente remains a revered figure in Pittsburgh, in Puerto Rico, and throughout all of Latin America. Every September 15, we celebrate #ClementeDay to honor Roberto’s legacy of charity and kindness.

It’s becoming impossible to ignore the physicality of Division I baseball. The average D1 roster is around 198 pounds. Does a high school recruit need to be 198 pounds? Of course not. But he needs to show that he’s trending toward the physicality required at that level. With only 34 roster spots, coaches have less room to recruit players who are years away. They need players who can compete and contribute sooner. Skill will always matter. Projection will always matter. But strength, movement and physical development have become a major part of the recruiting conversation. You don’t have to look like a college player yet. But coaches need to be able to see one coming.
