MARK CUBAN: "AI is not smart. AI doesn't know the consequences of its actions. It doesn't have inherent ethics. Those companies keep on borrowing and spending more money in order to power all of the AI, but they're borrowing more than they're making. We literally could get into a debt bubble."

In this interview, Professor Jeffrey Sachs joins Glenn Diesen to discuss his article “I Am a Defender of Ukraine” and explains why he believes NATO and the West are fighting to the last Ukrainian. Sachs traces the Ukraine war back to NATO expansion, Brzezinski’s “geopolitical pivot” strategy, and the squandered Minsk and Istanbul agreements, while laying out his own four-point peace proposal built on indivisible security, Ukrainian neutrality, and a de facto armistice line. He also criticizes Western media for silencing debate and European leaders for leaving diplomacy in Washington’s hand.

ELON MUSK: I mean, as you know, I've been sort of somewhat conflicted about AI. Is it— I don't want to hasten our doom because there's always some chance that AI could be negative. But then, when I've tried to take actions in this regard, it seems to have only accelerated AI because I think reality is not just an interestingness maximizer, but also an irony maximizer.

NIKESH ARORA: "I think these things are going to happen much faster than every 10 days. I think part of the challenge we're seeing is we've been talking about technology debt that we've all had to go pay sooner than later. And what's happened is people have not paid attention to the idea that they have to go fix their stuff. I'm at a customer once they were, but I talked to the CIO this morning. They had a PHP problem. They have a bunch of websites. Some are running the most advanced piece of software, so they can put the patch. Some are running older versions, which they can't patch. So they've gotta bring 'em down and go build them up."

MEERA SHANKAR: "So, well, this is the thing, because before Trump became president for the second time, the general expectation was that there will be a more minimalist US foreign policy with the US withdrawing from the world. But what we are seeing is the imperialism of a declining power which is seeking to build back. And that's what you're seeing. So the competition for grabbing resources, for grabbing energy, and so on.
The US has put trade protectionism at the forefront of its domestic agenda because they believe now that globalization led to loss of jobs in the US and also exerted downward pressure on wages. Now, this constituency, which didn't find articulation in earlier administrations is also the core of Trump's constituency, the MAGA constituency, which is both racist and protectionist. So it's a backlash against 2 terms of Obama, if you will, and stoking white anxieties about possible demographic decline in future, and then who gets to control the US economy, polity, and culture."

NIKHIL KAMATH: To be fair, the one big advantage for a 17-year-old today versus 20 years ago I think education has become largely democratic today. If I want to learn about something, I could use AI, I could use the internet, and almost anything I want to learn about, if I so choose to, is available freely. The delta of going to a formal institution like a college has probably dropped significantly from then to now.
Well, if I was 17 today and I were to be given a different set of options that exist today, I would probably try to build something on top of the technological changes that are happening in the West. I think there is opportunity there. I don't think we have come to it yet, but I would focus on building something on the application or services layers. Sitting on top of the new tech stacks.

ARVIND KRISHNA: "And the debates are, is it 2028, 2029, 2033? And sort of if you pick the middle point, let's call it 2030. Well, it will break today's cryptography. That's not a supposition. That's just a reality. And if that's going to happen, then what's the cryptography that you got to use to protect yourself against that? Unfortunately for some of you, what's even worse, if you have an encrypted hard disk today that gets stolen, somebody could keep it for 5 years and break it at that point.
The good news is post-quantum cryptography is understood. It's well known. The code is written, but people have been too lazy to get to it. But I think the wake-up moment is now."
