The men of the past could lift rocks alone, that no two men could hope to lift today.
I know I shouldn't be, but I am continually shocked by how many of my grad students fill their written work with incomplete sentences.

“The aim and final end of all music should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul.” — Johann Sebastian Bach
Johann Sebastian Bach is the Shakespeare of music. Best there ever was.

Me to my homeschooled son: You only translated 8 lines of Sophoclean Greek today? In the public schools they're doing 12-15 lines a day. You don't want to get left behind. This only works because his biggest influences are writers from Eton during the Edwardian period.

📱💎 🚨 We are pleased to announce that The 1657 English Annotations is now available for Android on Google Play! Study the King James Version together with the third edition (1657) of this historic Protestant commentary, offering historical, theological, linguistic, and exegetical insight. With the app, you can: ✅ Browse all 66 books by book, chapter, and annotated verse. ✅ Read KJV passages with their corresponding notes. ✅ Access the Preface, Advertisement, and other introductory material. ✅ Find books using the canonical library search. ✅ Study with a simple, uncluttered reading layout. ✅ Follow Scripture references throughout the annotations and introductory material. ✅ Return to your previous reading location after following a reference. ✅ Adjust the text size and choose light or dark themes. ✅ Switch between Scripture with annotations and annotations alone. Recent updates improve links for historical abbreviations, bracketed citations, chapter references, and verse lists, with safeguards against incorrect destinations. We pray that this resource will serve pastors, students, families, researchers, and all who desire to study the Scriptures. Please share it with others who may benefit. If you have any further feedback, please let us know (and please rate the app in the Play Store if you enjoy & appreciate it; it really helps us). P.S. We are planning to add an iOs version soon, Lord-willing. If you are interested in being a beta tester for it, please get in touch.

It’s never too late reminder: Erasmus only began to teach himself Greek in his thirties.

So proud today, two different customers came in looking for Narnia books, wanted to know if they should start with Magicians Nephew or Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe…I of course made sure they are reading in the correct order ☺️

The greatest poem ever written is the Iliad. There is simply no question. The only challenge for each reader, whenever and wherever, is to find their own route to seeing how and why that is the truth. (It took me 22 years from first read.)
