When I asked Parker what benefit there was if Mike Pettine wasn’t at practice. The complete answer: “I mean, I guess whenever you have more time in the office, it's always a benefit because you watch more tape, you can look at more things. You know, I think that's the main thing. He's had walkthroughs; he's doing. But if you're not in practice, if you're not running drills, and you're not, you know, doing certain things, I mean, there's a lot of people in practice who don't even do that.” @I think the value that he's given is kind of just you know coming over the tape, and there might be certain things that I might tell him. ‘Hey, can you check this out from last year, from Game 2 or what they did on you know second and eight, you know versus this coordinator. He can kind of just look at those, and we can have a conversation about it, you know.” “But he's a very productive worker. He has a very creative mind. So the more that we can utilize that, and he can add to what we have, the better.” Cowboys DC Christian Parker was asked multiple times about Mike Pettine not being out at practice. He said he’s at walkthroughs and watching film. “If you’re not running drills and you’re not doing certain things, I mean, there’s a lot of people at practice that don’t need to be there.”

Enlightening pressers from OC Klayton Adams and DC Christian Parker. I asked Adams about the flexibility at the line of scrimmage when it comes to checks and protections, has it changed from last year and ultimately why we have seen some personnel changes and call outs. “I would say it's the like the execution of the different answers that we have, and it's multiple different things. “Sometimes it's coaching error, sometimes it's a sight adjustment between a quarterback and a receiver, sometimes it's an ID by the center and the quarterback. So it’s right now it's death by 1000 paper cuts. Executing those, like I think a blitz zero response as being like a geopolitical nuclear response that you don't want to be in that situation all the time. But when it happens, you better execute it properly.” “So like putting ourselves in a lot of those probably not going to be a winning scenario. But you know, like the the part of the best answer is execute it when it happens. You're probably not going to see it as often, and be as balanced as you can possibly be, and don't allow you know a defense to make you win.” More from today’s Total Access

On if the responsibilities or flexibility at the LOS have changed this year? “Our center and our quarterback basically kind of throw the call together. The quarterback leads the charge on that stuff. The center will generally get us into kind of whatever the the slotted call of like here's here's what our general rule is versus this, and then the quarterback will fix things if there's something that needs to be fixed. And again, if the center sees something because quarterback's got so many things going on on his plate, you know he'll generally try to kind of put up some bells and whistles like, hey, I think maybe we want to do this.” “But yeah, we we always give him the final say because he's generally very very good at that stuff. And you know, pass protection goes into there's a especially when you're kind of airing it out the way that we have. You know, you're you're you're putting light on something that's that's gonna every scheme is gonna have some holes in it, and the more the more you're putting it out there, the more people see it. And so you gotta you gotta be able to adjust.”

Cowboys offensive coordinator Klayton Adams on his biggest goal for the week: “I want to be more helpful to the play-caller.” “No. 1, I want to recommend stuff that works. Sometimes the response is: ‘Is it going to work?’ Yes, it’s gonna work. And also, maybe giving reasons in between series. ‘Hey, we’re gonna do this because of this.’ “When you’re struggling, which we have struggled the last couple of weeks, you’re searching hard for answers and I think it’s easy to overthink things. And I want to give very clear, defined solutions. ‘This is why we’re doing this. This is why it’s gonna work. The players like it and they believe in it.’”

Cowboys HC Brian Schottenheimer on @1053thefan on getting things turned around offensively: “I have incredible confidence in our offense. We have not played well the last two weeks, we have addressed a lot of the reasons why. We haven’t changed who we are. We are still a good explosive offense with weapons. We can hurt you a lot of different ways. I certainly haven’t lost the ability to call plays. I’m an elite play-caller in this league, and it can change around quickly.”

Two of my favorite moments/quotes in a story full of crazy ones. “Here comes No. 5” is amazing lmfao
The hidden world inside NFL headsets is as complex and strategic as it is chaotic: a textured audio landscape of intense competition, stress, dramatically shifting emotions, unwritten rules and even absurdity. @JourdanRodrigue and @SandoNFL pull back the curtain on NFL headsets: nyti.ms/4ibIpSK

This is what a leader sounds like.
#Titans HC Robert Saleh says Jordan Elliott having a gun was, in a way, a “small sign of a cry for help,” considering he had no prior issues and is a father and a hard worker. Saleh referenced two suicides in the NFL over the past year and expressed concern about players struggling without getting the help they need. “These kids go through a lot. I will stand on the table for Jordan’s character. My message to 31 other teams: If you need a hell of a run-stopping DT that can help for a playoff run, give me a call. I'll tell you everything you need to know about him. He’s a good man. Had a terrible lapse in judgment.”

Sources: Texas is expected to give an up-tick in first-team quarterback reps to redshirt freshman KJ Lacey Jr. this week in practice. Arch Manning still projects as the Texas starter. The uptick in Lacey’s reps is a signal that Texas could replace Manning if he continues to struggle.

Brian Schottenheimer said he considered taking a timeout after Dak Prescott took a big hit one play before his first interception. “He’s a warrior. He got the wind knocked out of him, and he’s tough as nails, man, and an elite competitor …I said, ‘Are you OK?’ And he kind of gave me the head nod. I don’t think that (hit) had anything to do with (the turnover).” Prescott said after the game he would not need X rays, that it’s just a bruise.

“Continue to evolve” with the one side of the ball that had continuity this season. That’s strange logic to me 🤷🏼‍♀️
Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones on @1053thefan said they “absolutely” believe in Brian Schottenheimer. “There’s not any question in Jerry and my mind. He has the team. There’s no question they want to go out there and execute and make things happen. Feel really good about our coaching staff. We just got to have it continue to evolve and get to a point to where we can win these football games.”

Yikes
How committed is Jalen Hurts to football? After initially being diagnosed with a superficial blood clot in London, doctors told him not to sleep as a precaution, so he had been awake for roughly 36 hours when he started against the Jaguars, throwing for 220 yards and a TD.

The Cowboys interviewed Jonathan Gannon twice for their DC position. He was in contention until they chose Christian Parker. He landed in Green Bay. His Packers defense held the Cowboys offense to 13 points — their lowest point total in the Brian Schottenheimer Era.
