New: The US debt-to-GDP ratio for FY2026 clocks in at .... 100.03%. If that survives after GDP revisions, it's the first triple-digit year since 1946. wsj.com/economy/federal-debt…

U.S. 🇺🇸 FEDERAL DEBT HITS 100% OF GDP, THE HIGHEST RATIO SINCE 1946 Federal debt held by the public reached $32.2 trillion at the end of fiscal 2026, equivalent to 100.03% of GDP, up from 99.4% a year earlier. The last time the ratio was this high was in 1946, when it reached a record 106% following World War II. For context, the ratio stood at just 33.7% in 2000, when the U.S. government was running budget surpluses. The federal deficit totaled nearly $2 trillion in fiscal 2026, or 6.2% of GDP, an unusually high level outside wars, recessions and emergencies. The longer-term concern is rising interest costs, with the CBO projecting net interest payments to increase by more than 1% of GDP over the next decade.

Buying a Tesla, maybe the best financial decision you ever make. We only pay about $50 a month to charge, no maintenance, and the convenience of FSD is better than a $3 coffee every day.

Zero regrets. I already had FSD drive me into the city today. It’s a drive I typically avoid because I hate it. No stress. 🙌

Wow. Business investment surged almost 13% in Q3 2026 due to the AI investment boom. We haven't seen anything that strong since Q3 2011 when the economy was finally starting to pickup a bit of momentum after the Great Recession. This will not be sustainable at this pace. [Note: I'm looking at "non-residential fixed investment" and I'm excluding the 2020 pandemic re-opening]

Jamie Dimon says government spending trillions of dollars is like heroin for corporate profits: it feels good, but inflation is the price “We have been profligate now for years. We’ve borrowed and spent $12 trillion since 2020. And QE, if you go back to the beginning, was $8 trillion. And those numbers are almost equal for the rest of the world.” “We’ve got to remember our government spending is inflationary. It also does something which is unbelievable and makes you all feel good. It’s like heroin. It drives your corporate profits.” “When governments spend a trillion dollars, that goes into spending, that goes into all your businesses. Machine tools, burgers, pools, homes. And then we all feel good because we’re all making a lot of money.” “And it’s a little bit of a false thing if it’s inflationary, which it is.”

Hillary, you paid for a dirty Steele dossier based on Russian sources that was used to obtain an illegal surveillance warrant against the Trump campaign. Remember that? If I were you, I wouldn't talk. I'd just go away.
Elon Musk is flooding the midterms with money to help Trump. But even his millions may not be enough to counteract reality. #HighStakes

President Trump closes out Q3 with GDP beating expectations and posting the strongest performance of the year. It’s clear from the consumer confidence numbers, from the new business formation numbers, from durable goods orders to PMI - every indicator is flashing GROWTH. It’s only the fake news media that continue to flash the negative headlines!
BREAKING: The U.S. economy grew at an annualized rate of 3.4% in the third quarter, beating economists' expectations of 3.2%. The stronger-than-expected GDP report comes as President Trump makes his final push on the campaign trail, with the midterm elections just days away.

China built the capacity to make 60 million cars a year. It will sell 18 million. Passenger-vehicle sales are tracking to 18.5 million in 2026, down 22%, the worst since 2014. Capacity sits near 60 million. Industry profit margins have been cut from 8% to 3.6%. Germany's car trade with China is sliding from a fat surplus toward deficit. This is what overcapacity looks like. A price war with no winner, margins bled to nothing, and the excess dumped on every export market on earth. Deflation made in China, shipped worldwide.

.@SecretaryTurner toured Gospel Rescue Mission’s Center of Opportunity with @RepCiscomani. This faith-based nonprofit, the region’s largest shelter provider, brings together housing, recovery, and workforce development to help people achieve self-sufficiency.
Great to be back in Arizona with @RepCiscomani. The Gospel Rescue Mission in Tucson is an incredible model of how to help the homeless achieve self-sufficiency.

I've been pointing out since the early 2010s that Thomas Piketty, Emmanuel Saez, and Gabriel Zucman have a bad habit of biasing their data construction to fit their politics. Whenever they make a suspect call in how to handle stats, it ends up showing that inequality is on the rise. They almost never go in the other direction. The errors are non-random and almost invariably reinforce their political claims about rising income and wealth concentration since 1980. Piketty did this throughout his book Capital in the 21st Century. Piketty and Saez did this throughout their famous 2003 paper on inequality in the US. Piketty, Saez, and Zucman Saez and Zucman did this in their Distributional National Accounts paper that Auten and Splinter dissected. Saez and Zucman did this in their 2019 book on tax incidence and inequality. Saez and Zucman did this in their flurry of "studies" and white papers to support Elizabeth Warren's wealth tax proposal, California Prop 40, a new wealth tax in France, and dozens of other similar examples. A new AI report (linked below) audited 138 papers by Saez and Zucman. It found thousands of errors, 194 of which were serious. A whopping 97% of the serious errors went in the same direction: they showed inequality rising faster or made it higher. But there's a bigger scandal at play here. Despite these clear biases, Piketty, Saez, and Zucman have enjoyed a stream of praise and prestige within the economics profession. They get expedited and friendly reviews in top econ journals even though a more serious peer review should have caught many of these errors (the Quarterly Journal of Economics is a recurring offender in this regard). Journals regularly give them a pass after the errors in their old work come to light - they're never expected to correct any of it, and just keep on using it as if nothing changed. Their non-peer reviewed data claims are also treated as gospel by major media outlets such as the New York Times and the Washington Post. And they get showered with prizes - Saez and Zucman are both Clark Medal winners from the AEA, and Zucman got his prize in 2023 after evidence of major data shenanigans in his work came to light in 2019. Until now, those of us who have been trying to correct the record have had to wade through the PSZ trio's cluttered, disorganized, and often non-transparent replication packages (almost all of which are convoluted piles of Excel spreadsheets) to find the problems. I did a line-by-line replication of Piketty and Saez's entire 2003 US income inequality series to use one example, and found it was riddled with errors - almost every single one of which biased their results in favor of their political story. We had the means to catch this stuff as it was happening, but the economics profession failed to do its job. And it failed precisely because its elite ranks wanted to believe the Piketty-Saez-Zucman story for political reasons.

Can someone explain to me why is it politicians who spend 30 plus years in office and accomplish absolutely nothing…retire as millionaires…while the American people they represent can barely afford groceries or rent. Why have we the people allowed them to get away with this? How did we get so comfortable that we stopped pushing back and demanded results? It’s time we ALL start to get out of the comfort zone we are in and force these politicians who are supposed to work for us to do their jobs!

JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon warns the world is facing its most dangerous geopolitical situation since World War II: “We have a world that may be on fire, and American leadership is required to fix this.” 🇺🇸 “I’m cautiously pessimistic about fiscal and monetary stimulus, the effect of persistent inflation, and geopolitics. I do believe it’s the most complicated and risky geopolitical situation since World War II. The terrible war between Ukraine and Russia. What’s going on in the Middle East is terrible. You have Iran maybe on the verge of nuclear weapons, North Korea and its troops. We have a world that may be on fire, and American leadership is required to fix this. And then we have China. The complexity of that relationship is not just Taiwan, but the global economic relationships. I think those are really important subjects. I think we’ll get through them, and we should applaud anything we can do to resolve these issues. But that is a great concern to me.”

Saudi Arabia is pumping oil like it is wartime, and the barrels are getting through. The kingdom's exports are back near 6 million barrels a day, close to wartime highs, even with Houthi attacks and shipping risk in the Red Sea. When the swing producer floods the market at a moment like this, it is defending market share, not price. For everyone watching oil as a geopolitical bet, the message is blunt: supply is ample, the disruptions are noise so far, and Saudi is choosing volume over a higher price. That caps crude more than any headline about the Middle East.
