U.S potential ban on TikTok is proof artists should always prioritise & channel marketing efforts toward building direct-to-fan comms. Platforms aren’t always evergreen & come and go. Emails/phone numbers haven’t gone anywhere, have no algorithm & are as relevant as ever.

Establishing artists should be releasing good quality music, with strong brand identity, frequently but without degrading potential momentum / unplanned moments a release might have, giving new audiences easily consumable, bite sized art whilst a fanbase builds….

Quality and consistency do not need to be at odds. Both are possible at once. For many younger artists, the issue is the delivery format. Look, I love albums. But releasing one album every 9-12 months is suboptimal for fan-building or audience growth in the current environment.
