28 people behind $30 trillion who all went broke or got fired first. Steve Jobs was both. This is what he said while he was still in the “fired” chapter.
1994. Santa Clara Valley Historical Association. Jobs is 39, out of Apple, running NeXT, years away from the comeback that would define him. No stage, no keynote. A man in a chair being interviewed.
He says life gets presented to you as a fixed structure. School, job, career, mortgage. You move through it and try not to bump into the walls.
Then he takes the frame apart.
Everything around you was built by people no smarter than you. The systems. The institutions. The rules about how things are done. Those people invented all of it. Which means you can change it, push on it, or build something else entirely.
He called that the single most important thing to shake off. The idea that the world is something you accept rather than something you make.
In this clip, Apple hasn’t called him back yet. NeXT hasn’t been acquired yet. The iPhone doesn’t exist. He’s just a guy who got fired explaining why that doesn’t scare him.
The clip has been cut into a thousand motivational videos. Most of them miss the point. He’s not saying believe in yourself. He’s saying the people who built the walls didn’t have permission either.

AI at the edge is bringing decision-making closer to industrial operations.
That means faster response times, lower latency, better uptime, and smarter real-time action.

A workplace that notices early signs of fatigue, poor air quality, or unusual movement can help prevent a health issue before it disrupts people and operations.
But support only works when privacy and consent are designed into the system.
Microblog by @antgrasso #SmartSpaces
This is where ambient intelligence can become useful for organizations.
In a warehouse, for example, changes in movement or environmental conditions could signal rising fatigue or heat stress.
In a hospital, unusual patterns may help care teams identify when a patient needs attention sooner.
The technology should not make decisions about people on its own.
It should help teams notice weak signals and respond at the right time.
That requires clear limits.
Employees and patients need to know what data is collected and why.
The system should gather only what is necessary and keep human judgment at the center.
A smart workplace should reduce risk without making people feel monitored.

Edge AI and TinyML in IoT

If you think that IoT maturity is about adding more devices, you are missing the real shift.
Edge AI and Swarm IoT bring intelligence closer to operations, where systems can coordinate before cloud delay weakens the response.
Microblog by @antgrasso about #EdgeAI #SwarmIoT
The point is not to connect more objects for the sake of collecting more data.
Edge AI and Swarm IoT make IoT more useful when connected systems can understand what is happening near the source and help operations respond sooner.
Edge AI supports this shift because some decisions should not wait for every signal to travel back to the cloud.
When data is processed near a machine or sensor, teams can act with less delay and less dependence on constant connectivity.
Swarm IoT adds coordination.
Devices do not only report status; they share signals and adjust behavior as a group.
This is where distributed assets start to work more like an operational network than a set of isolated endpoints.
The human role remains essential.
Leaders need clear governance and safety rules, so local intelligence stays aligned with business goals and does not become uncontrolled automation at the edge.
IoT maturity is not measured by the number of connected devices.
It is measured by how well intelligence and oversight work together where operations actually happen.

Connected systems stream the data that matter - #SmartBoitier 5G MPN operated
Automation depends on connectivity that can stay consistent under real operating conditions.
In environments like this, private 5G helps protect production continuity when every process needs to keep moving.

First principles: the data has to belong to the data-source, or data generator - the city/community/facility…. Transportation should be local.
#SmartBoitier #SmartFacilities #IndustrialTransformation
Digital sovereignty is easy to declare and hard to operate.
Without trusted telecom networks and local control, autonomy stays political language while dependency keeps running through the data flows that carry critical daily services.
Microblog @antgrasso #DigitalSovereignty
There is a practical gap between declaring sovereignty and making it work.
Policy can set the ambition, but telecom infrastructure decides whether organizations can keep services running when pressure arrives.
Local control is not symbolic.
It helps organizations understand where sensitive traffic goes and who can access it.
This reduces dependence on external decisions that may sit outside the organization or the country.
Trust also depends on resilient infrastructure.
Networks and data centers must support continuity, while edge nodes bring control closer to where services are used.
Data governance gives autonomy a concrete shape.
Clear rules for location and access make information flows easier to verify, so sovereignty moves from a promise to an operating discipline.
The sea between saying and doing is infrastructure.

Stop hunting for the secret nobody else has discovered. The unique insight, the clever hack, the edge you’ll have because you alone know it — that’s mostly a fantasy. And chasing it is a great way to talk yourself out of the boring guidance that actually works.
Look for the patterns instead.
When you hear the same thing from a founder, a mentor, and a book you read ten years ago. That’s the signal you’ve been ignoring.
