No after-school meetings. No twilight sessions. Trust teachers to manage their time. Headteacher Carl explains how his school combines a slightly longer school day with the freedom for staff to decide what they need to do afterwards. Could this approach help more schools retain their teachers? 💬 #teaching #workload #teacherlife #teachertok #teachersoftiktok

I don’t know if this is a first, but it’s a fascinating evolution in teacher voice: the @TTRadioOfficial investigation into the Panorama investigation. The other side of the story.
🚨 NEW: Inside Athena – the story beyond Panorama Following the BBC Panorama investigation into Athena Learning Trust, Teachers Talk Radio has gone further speaking directly to four teachers who worked inside Athena schools. Two current staff. Two former staff. One former teacher tells us: “It quashed the behaviour but destroyed any love of learning.” Another says: “Something so full of potential became a monster.” But a current teacher strongly disputes the picture presented: “The Panorama documentary was not particularly a fair representation of CSIA.” And another current Athena teacher describes the programme as: “a hatchet job rather than an in depth exploration.” We examine the claims around reflection rooms, toilet restrictions, silent practice, SEND, staff surveillance, classroom drop-ins and teacher autonomy including where current and former staff actually agree. 🎥 PLUS: Watch our full hour-long interview with former Camborne teacher Robin Brindley Johnson, who says working under Athena felt like “indoctrination” and explains why he believes the trust became too authoritarian. Athena Learning Trust was given the opportunity to respond and its statement is published in full. 👇 Read the investigation and watch the full interview Read: ttradio.org/post/a-hatchet-j… Watch: youtube.com/watch?v=CcZz0pCz…

Someone sent me this.... 1944 Education Act – Technical schools promised, but never truly materialised. Early 1990s – TVEI. Late 1990s – GNVQs and NVQs. 2000s – 14–19 reforms, AS Levels, Key Skills, Diplomas. 2010 onwards – Much of it swept away with a change of government, while new apprenticeship reforms took centre stage.

This changes everything. Non-selectives in highly selective areas are the worst-performing category nationally - worse than other non-selectives, categorically separate from selectives. A similar schools methodology from Ofsted that ignores this will be missing the point.
Replying to @Yorkshire_Steve
And achievement by same categories of admissions policy
