Every two years Obama emerges for two weeks, reminds us just how badly today's politicians pale in comparison, and then goes back into retirement.

OBAMA: The president wasn't even mad. About The Saddam Hussein comparison. That part didn't bother him. But he was very upset about The Cheesecake Factory. He took great umbrage. He said I didn't understand the work of the artisans in the White House. They mobilized a whole of government response to that joke. Not to inflation, but to that joke.

I never used the word "right". Jews have a state because they accepted the Partition Plan and spent the last 80 years building and defending their nation. The Arabs who lived in the region don't have a state because they turned down the Partition Plan, attacked Israel, lost, turned down every other offer for a state since then, kept attacking, kept losing, and continued to spend their money on rockets and terror tunnels and not on building their society. The truth hurts, but that's what it is.
There's no right to a state. States either exist or they don't and movements to create, transform or dissolve them are not a matter of right but of force. Jews have a state in Palestine because they won it by force. Palestinians don't have a state because they unfortunately lost.

I have spoken out against anti-Muslim hate in the Michigan Senate race. I will speak out just as loudly when the target is Jewish people. Let me state a little-known fact: ISRAEL GETS LESS THAN 0.1 PERCENT OF THE FEDERAL BUDGET. That’s less than one tenth of a percent! But there is an ad running that tells voters they can’t afford groceries because the United States gives so much money to Israel. In reality, the United States spends money in and on countries all around the world – but this ad singles out the Jewish state. The ad is as dangerous as it is dishonest. You can disagree with how the United States spends money abroad. But telling hungry families that the Jewish state is the reason they are suffering is wrong and shameful. Blaming Jews for people’s problems is an old story. Anybody who has read the last century of history knows where it leads. It is a dark pathway. This ad is anti-Jewish hate and should come down immediately. Abdul El-Sayed should denounce it today.

The U.S. spends $8.53 billion a year on its military presence in Germany. It spends $5.69 billion a year on its presence in Japan. It spends $4.25 billion a year on its presence in South Korea. But we only ever hear about military aid to Israel. Isn't that weird?

Annual federal budget Medicaid: $668 Billion SNAP: $101 Billion Aid to Israel: $3.8 Billion ($3.3B in grants to purchase US-manufactured defense equipment & $500M for defense programs) Money going to Israel is not causing the cost of bananas to go up ffs.
Replying to @cenkuygur
Blaming America’s problems on Israel isn’t simply criticism of foreign aid. That’s why you don’t care about the billions of aid going to Egypt($1.3b annually), Jordan ($1b annually) and Ukraine($119B). Or about US spending billions on military forces defending Europe, South Korea and Japan. Why? Israel is central to the identity of most American Jews. Singling out Israel as the cause of American suffering is a thinly veiled attempt to turn Americans against their Jewish compatriots, portraying their support for Israel as evidence of divided loyalties and their political influence as a threat to the interests of their fellow Americans. It is an old antisemitic tool dressed up as a foreign-policy argument.

This type of fearmongering about Israel is wrong. It is not a winning strategy for any state. It does nothing to help Michigan Democrats win up and down the ballot in eight days. Do we need to lower costs by building more homes, securing people’s health care, and creating a fairer federal tax code? Yes, we do!! How we do so is not by blaming the high costs of our goods on the only Jewish homeland in the world. I want to see Democrats succeed at every level, and that means keeping our focus on lowering costs for Michigan families and reining in this out-of-control President.
New @RebellionPac ad dropping in Michigan. We have to suffer here at home, so Israel can get all its wars. That’s why they buy politicians like Mike Rogers. He promised to serve Israel “unconditionally,” but never made that promise to you.

THIS! It’s so absurd.
FACT: The annual funding Israel receives from the US amounts to less than one-tenth of 1% of the federal budget. Less than 1/10th of 1%. FACT: That annual funding would cover only a few hours of federal health care spending. A few hours. Yet politicians who specialize in scapegoating would have you believe that Israel is responsible for America’s affordability crisis. Like every form of scapegoating before it, it is a dangerous lie.

How crazy is it that Fox/GOP is trying to make the Cheesecake Factory one-liner a thing after all the shit that Trump has and continues to spew. Sorry but you gave up your right for outrage when you stayed silent on all that. #IDontMakeTheRules

Dear @AGToddBlanche: A federal judge called the trump DOJ’s argument “frivolous” and ordered the reinstatement of prosecutor Maurene Comey. This is what happens when you try to enforce the rule of trump instead of the rule of law. You get smacked down. November is coming.
🚨 NEWS: A federal judge has ruled that the Trump DOJ ILLEGALLY fired prosecutor Maurene Comey, ordering retroactive reinstatement and backpay. The judge ripped the DOJ’s defense as bordering on “frivolous” and rejected its sweeping claims of executive power. meidasnews.com/news/trump-do…

This is disgusting, blatant antisemitism. The vitriol of Cenk and his nephew are going to cost us this seat. El-Sayed should disavow this ad!
Abdul El-Sayed blames Israel for the price of your eggs and bananas, even though he knows that higher grocery prices are only due to supply, energy and inflation factors. Shame on anyone voting for a candidate who uses Antisemitic talking points to win an election.

What Israel did in Gaza may well go down in history as the most humane and precise urban warfare environment the world has ever known—the very opposite of genocide. The entire purpose of a genocide is to push civilians into the killing zone. Think about what happened in the Holocaust, where children in line at Auschwitz were given bars of soap, where inside of the gas chambers there were fake shower heads. What was the point? It was to trick and induce civilians to get in to the killing zone so that you could kill more of them more efficiently over time. Israel has done the very opposite—warning civilians and then manning humanitarian corridors with its own soldiers, risking its own sons’ and daughters’ lives to ensure that civilians get out of the killing zone. We see two remarkable things in Gaza. First, according to preeminent urban warfare scholars like John Spencer, Richard Kemp, and Andrew Fox, Israel has the lowest militant-to-civilian kill ratio in the history of urban warfare. Genocides have extreme civilian-to-militant kill ratios. Hundred, thousand, ten thousand-to-one. That’s the point of a genocide. Here we have a militant-to-civilian kill ratio of may be two-to-one—not consistent not just with law of war violations—but much less with genocide. Second, and more importantly, all genocidal regimes get better over time at killing civilians. Again, think about the Holocaust. The Nazis started with firing squads killing 20, 30, 50 people at a time and realized that was too inefficient. Then they got these vans and filled them with exhaust pipes, and they would kill more people. And they said, “We’re never going to get to six million killing them this way.” That led them to construct these massive gas chambers and crematoria—the architecture of true genocide—to kill thousands and thousands of people cheaply and efficiently a day. Israel has done the opposite. Even if you believe Hamas’ numbers, the scale of civilian death in Gaza went down over time. Israel got better and better and spent hundreds of millions of shekels learning how to become more efficient at preserving innocent Palestinians’ lives. Again, the very opposite of genocide.

This is so blatantly anti semitic, not to mention stupid and illogical, it absolutely takes my breath away. There’s no El Sayed saying “I approve this ad” at the end… is it possible it was posted without the campaign’s consent? @AbdulElSayed
New low for normalized Jew-hate in the American Democratic Party. Very sad: Painting your political opponents as puppets of Jews, as this El-Sayed ad does, and as crazed baby-killers and money-grubbing villains who are the root cause of every bad thing not just in the world, but in your life—from wars to the price of eggs to the reason you can’t have free healthcare—is not just low-grade Jew-hate. It’s pure Third Reich stuff, translated directly from the original German. Do you remember when Jewish Democrats in Michigan explained that they would vote for El-Sayed despite his open disdain for Jews, since there are many other important issues they need him to fight for? That anything was worth it to “defeat MAGA”? Well, here’s El-Sayed’s answer to them: Don’t worry, all those issues we agree on, like healthcare, inflation, and climate change, I’m going to make them about Jews too! I will tell the public that the Jews are the reason they can’t have those things.
