A woman sent me a message today about a conversation she overheard at church—a group of teens & adults ranting angrily about LGBTQ ppl, how they pose a threat to the nation, etc etc. So do you know what she did? SHE SPOKE UP.

We need more social consensus around best practices like this for anyone who wants to continue to avoid covid:
One of my infection prevention approaches when [rarely] meeting new people in person is to lead with: "I am fully vaccinated & boosted against COVID & flu. I will be wearing an N95 mask because I'm immunosuppressed. It would be awesome if you could wear a highly-rated mask too."

Really good point. We learn about how to cope with emotions from our parents. It's not a built-in skill like how to walk
Talk to your kids about intrusive thoughts. They’re more common than you may realize, and they can be disturbing and scary. Kids don’t know what they are, and they aren’t likely to share they are having them. I cannot even begin to tell you the relief upon learning what they are-

My friend who is a Chief Diversity officer shared that there have been a growing number of complaints by white faculty and staff that the jobs were being reserved for people of color and that their voices were being silenced. They decided to look at the numbers.

As a trauma therapist and former adoption professional, I think this perspective is vital for all to consume. Screencap is in the thread of you're not on FB:

#TherapistTwitter How many of you have the faun response from CPTSD? How does that impact your work? I definitely do, and it impacts what kinds of clients I can serve and my interactions with colleagues

Is this what functioning means to you?
When you ask me how I'm doing and I say "I'm functioning" this is what I mean

Have to say, I agree
Marginalized people don’t owe privileged people the benefit of the doubt. Suspicion is warranted when there is a history of abuse. Calling that suspicion bigotry is a type of gaslighting. We have to earn the trust of the marginalized and not demand it. Suspicion is protection.

Love learning about #queerhistory, esp when it's rooted in time & place. TIL about a famous lesbian, Janet Flanner, born to a major family in my hometown, #Indy placesjournal.org/article/qu…

Grateful I took a few minutes to dance and stretch at work today, so easy to forget myself & stay glued to my laptop #pleasure

So real! 2020 left us in survival mode. That means emo processing didn't really start until vaccines rolled out...

I assure you, trauma’s not “all in your head.” It’s also in your heart, your nerves, & your stomach. It’s in your trembling hands, your uneven breathing, your vision that suddenly gets blurry. It’s not just our head that went through the thing. Every cell in our body was there.

Deeply respect the perspective here, and yes, the opioid crisis was nurtured by corporations. I've watched too many clients start with a prescription for pain & end with an addiction
Two quotes to ponder as you read "Purdue's Poison Pill," Adam Levitin's forthcoming @TexasLRev paper: "Some will rob you with a six-gun, And some with a fountain pen." (W. Guthrie) "Behind every great fortune there is a great crime." (H. Balzac) (paraphrase) 1/
