Who is the Solidarity Movement?
Our history stretches back to 1902 with the founding of the Miners’ Union after the Anglo-Boer War. Over 124 years, we have grown into a network of almost 50 community institutions working to secure a future for Afrikaners at the southern tip of Africa.
#SolidarityMovement #FutureFocused #SouthAfrica #Afrikaners
When 600 000 members stand together behind a shared cause, remarkable projects become reality.
Our network connects culture and capital to build institutions for a sustainable future. A prime example is the new R3.2 billion Akademia university campus, funded entirely by our community without a single cent of state support.
Self-reliance is a wonderful concept, but its real worth is when it becomes a practical, working model for #SouthAfrica.

Although we disagree with the ANC, we love our country. That is why we do not speak ill of South Africa, even when we criticise the government. We aim to seek solutions to the ANC’s policies, which are holding the economy back and increasingly causing international tensions.
In response to the false accusations, we set out the facts:

The U.S. Ambassador to South Africa, Leo Brent Bozell III, warned that the United States is looking at further sanctions against South Africa.

A large segment of the media and the commentariat declared us “guilty” – without evidence – of being responsible for the deteriorating relations with the US.
Our stance should therefore be made clear:
• We do not long for the past, nor do we look forward to the future under the ANC;
• We disagree with the ANC but we love the country and its people;
• We support the sovereignty of South Africa but do not believe in the sovereignty of the ANC. Differences with the US should be addressed by the government of national unity.
• We choose the interests of South Africa over those of the White House or Luthuli House;
• South Africa should pursue a non-aligned foreign policy and the national interest must take precedence over loyalties and alliances dating from the Cold War era;
• Good relations between South Africa and the US are in the national interest.
• If relations deteriorate further, workers and ordinary people will suffer, not the governing elite;
• We refuse to serve as a scapegoat for the government’s failed diplomacy and policies;
• We reject attempts by radical politicians to vent their anger towards Trump on us;
• The only “misinformation” was the claim that we were spreading “misinformation”;
• We are not involved in the refugee programme. We believe he future of Afrikaners lies in South Africa. We are striving to create conditions that will allow Afrikaners to remain sustainably in the country, enabling us to make a contribution to the well-being of the country and all its people;
• We are committed to preserving our language and culture for future generations.

We believe in self-reliance and community responsibility.
Rather than waiting for external solutions, especially from the ANC-led government, our institutions build the infrastructure needed so Afrikaners can live freely, safely and prosperously at the southern tip of Africa.

Sol-Tech is an accredited private tertiary institution which focuses on scarce practical skills.
Very proud of how it stands out for its unique approach to artisan training and the quality of the skilled professionals it produces.

We proposed five answers to the five asks. The aim of the answers is not merely to restore trade relations, but to find solutions to the critical areas of concern in South Africa.
We have major differences with the government, but we love the country, and we are deeply concerned about the impact of prolonged diplomatic disputes on South Africa’s economy and international image.

As Ambassador Bozell told @FoxNews: There are billions of dollars in potential American investment and thousands of potential jobs, but South African policies continue to stand in the way. The United States is ready to do business. The question is whether South Africa is ready to remove the barriers. foxnews.com/world/exclusive-…
To understand why our movement works to build a sustainable future for Afrikaners in #SouthAfrica, it helps to understand the history of our people.
In this documentary, our Chairperson, Flip Buys, shares his family’s story across four generations on the continent. His family's journey reflects the broader history and lived experience of most Afrikaners — providing key context behind our commitment to building practical, self-reliant solutions at the southern tip of Africa.

Attempts have been made to blame the Solidarity Movement for deteriorating relations.
We reject this looking for a scapegoat for the ANC’s poor diplomatic relations with the US.
Although we are not the cause of the problem, we will cooperate to find a solution.

@Sol_Movement_SA announces its five answers to US asks.
Issued by the Chairperson of the @Sol_Movement_SA, @flip_buys, the Chief Executive of @afriforum, @kalliekriel; and the Chief Executive of @solidariteit, Dr @SolidariDirk.
Thank you for visiting our community institution, which plays a practical role in combating #FarmMurders and other crimes in rural and urban areas, @USAmbRSA.
The South African government should respond positively to the proposal for a public-community partnership to combat crime, as this will strengthen the fight against crime in the interest of everyone in the country.

@afriforum
Today I visited AfriForum’s headquarters to see firsthand its community safety operations and neighborhood and farm-watch programs. They are doing a terrific job.
But they need help. Our ask was for the South African government to designate rural crime a priority and back up their words with resources. AfriForum asked for support from the South African government – and the United States offered to help financially. This was ignored.
President Trump has been clear, this does not bode well for U.S.-South Africa relations.
From everyone in the Solidarity Movement family: warm congratulations to Dr Luis Durnwalder, former Governor of South Tyrol, on his 85th birthday today.
Backed by 600 000 members, our network provides practical solutions: vocational training, tertiary studies, legal support, safety, welfare, and more. We build functional institutions, ensuring the minority group of Afrikaners can also have a future in #SouthAfrica.

The US government has chosen to act against individuals rather than against the country and its people.
The harsher course of action would have been to impose sanctions of some kind on the country.
South Africa has also not yet been expelled from AGOA.
May this action serve as a wake-up call to those responsible for reckless domestic and foreign policy to put the interests of our country first.
We believe in the power of self-reliance. This project receives no state funding and is built by and for the Afrikaans community.
As Afrikaans is phased out at public universities, we are securing mother-tongue higher education for the future: businesstech.co.za/news/life…

Solidarity will thoroughly investigate reports that Amazon, the US technology giant, is excluding businesses from a business development programme in South Africa based on the race of their owners.
Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) Equity Equivalent Investment Programme (EEIP) explicitly requires participating businesses to be 100% black-owned. This means that a business is excluded from the programme if even one of its shareholders is white.
AWS describes the programme as part of its efforts to promote “diversity and inclusion”. Solidarity, however, believes there is nothing diverse or inclusive about a programme where an owner’s race determines whether their business has access to economic opportunities.

"It is the duty of anyone who wishes to build a future for our children to seek out shared interests and develop them for our mutual benefit."
Well said by @kalliekriel, CEO of @afriforum — which forms part of our network of 50 community institutions.
