Absolutely love this. Women's sports and softball specifically deserve to have the best opportunities to move forward.
Professional women's softball players unionized Tuesday night and asked the Athletes Unlimited Softball League to voluntarily recognize them, the first step toward a potential collective bargaining agreement for the 2027 season: spr.ly/6010BHGfvQ

Considering the circumstances, I think this is the best throw John Mateer has made as a Sooner. - Steps into the throw - Delivers the ball 40 yards - Hits his receiver in the Jumpman logo right as he turns around

White Sox lost 101 games 3 years ago. White Sox lost 121 games 2 years ago. White Sox lost 102 games 1 year ago. White Sox are 1 win away from the ALCS. Stop telling me any other story in sports history is better than the 2026 Chicago White Sox.

Every patient in the children's hospital next to Iowa's football stadium got a letter this week from the team that came to beat Iowa. Ohio State plays there today. Ranked fifth in the country. They are the visitors. They wrote to the kids anyway, and the reason why is the part nobody is talking about. The letter is dated Friday, October 2nd, 2026, on Woody Hayes Athletic Center letterhead, signed by head coach Ryan Day and the entire Ohio State football team. It takes the word that program is built on and hands it to them. At Ohio State, we talk often about what it means to compete, to stay together and to give your best in the moment in front of you. Those are defining characteristics of our culture which is built on FIGHT, meaning every day is a FIGHT to be the best version of yourself. Then this. We know you are facing challenges that take real strength. You do not have to take on everything at once. Focus on the current step, the current day and the people who are there to support you. Now here is the context that makes this more than a nice gesture. A children's hospital is not a random place for Ryan Day to send a letter. It is the thing he does. In 2019 Day and his wife Christina created the Christina and Ryan Day Fund for Pediatric and Adolescent Mental Wellness at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus. Reports put the family commitment at a million dollars. The fund produces something called a Day Time Break curriculum, free lesson kits on mental health that go to middle school and high school classrooms. More than 200,000 of them have gone out, in English and in Spanish. Thirty dollars puts one in a teacher's hands. He and Christina have also given to Ohio State's Wexner Medical Center and College of Medicine. Day has said he wants Ohio State to be a place where people can be open and honest about their mental health, and he has explained the whole thing in seven words. Based on the way that I grew up. So when his team walks into a stadium with a children's hospital looming over the east side, and the whole place turns around at the end of the first quarter to wave at the twelfth floor, that is not a tradition Ryan Day had to have explained to him. He told his players about it in advance anyway, so none of them would be caught standing there confused. And he sent letters to the kids in the windows first. Be honest about it. It is paper. It does not change a diagnosis or shorten a stay, and every program in the country does community work with a camera somewhere nearby. But an Iowa fan posted a photo of that letter yesterday and wrote this underneath it. Thank you Buckeyes, but GO HAWKS. That is exactly how it is supposed to work.

Minnesota's head coach just launched himself into a mob of his own players at full sprint. P.J. Fleck crowd-surfs after every win, today's was his 100th, and the mania took 15 years to build. It started with the worst thing that can happen to a person. In February 2011, Fleck's infant son Colt died of a heart condition. Fleck was a 30-year-old receivers coach at the time. He came up with a phrase to get himself out of bed. Row the boat. Your back faces the future, you can't see what's coming, all you control is the oar. Two years later Western Michigan made him the youngest head coach in the FBS. He went 1-11 his first season and people laughed at the boat stuff. By 2016 the same program went 13-0 and made the Cotton Bowl. When Minnesota hired him away in 2017, there was a catch. Western Michigan had trademarked "Row the Boat." The school owned the legal rights to the phrase he created for his son. Fleck paid them $50,000 out of his own pocket, structured as a scholarship for a walk-on player, to take the words with him. Nine years of rowing later, today happened. Minnesota beat #24 Michigan 20-14, took back the Little Brown Jug for the first time since 2014, and beat them at home for the first time in 49 years. 51,012 fans stormed the field. So yes, the man flies into that pile looking slightly unhinged. He knows better than anyone in that locker room that you don't get to choose which days are the good ones. You just keep rowing until one shows up.
Minnesota beat Michigan earlier today, and this might the best postgame locker room video I've ever seen 😲😲

Good morning X World. Today's throwback is to September 10, 2001. The day before our world changed forever. These aren't my words. But it's how I feel. My friends, as you settle down tonight for bed, remember that, on this night…..25 years ago, 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning tomorrow. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift of saving lives. None of them saw past 10:00 am Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted. I'm still pissed and I WILL NEVER forget. 🇺🇸
