Charles my Southampton born grandfather would have been a teenager when the image was captured and like many of us I am sure who remember Southampton’s Royal Pier would have made good memories.
With her permission, this young lady is talking to the birds in Pound Tree Road, Southampton. Amazing i must say with many more birds close to her that you cannot see. She was really enjoying what she was involved with. My image on the 11-09-2026.

A former bank and if you remember also Robins Nest in the High Street. Reading the date on top of the building it shows MDCCCXXXIII I think this relates to the year 1833. is this date for the building or the Bank?

The Royal Pier
Where better for children to play draughts but outside on our Royal Pier in the late 1950’s ?
The deck games were free to use on our pier, with a hook on the end of a long pole the weighted counters could be easily moved.

Manor Farm Road
Captured around 1900 this view would be almost unrecognisable today if it were not for the then new 'Bitterne Park Board School' which had been built on the western side of the road, known today as Bitterne Park Primary School.
