The modern hero isn’t a warrior or a demi god, but the person who refuses to sleep walk through life like the masses. He’s the person who retains his childlike sense of wonder for life, who refuses to stay in the box that society wants him to reside in, and who refuses to sell his soul or live a lie.
He’s heroic because he dares to question convention and confront what most are too coward to face. He stands by his principles and attacks his purpose unapologetically. But above all he’s heroic because he’s his own master, unlike the majority who surrender to conformity and fear rather than that which is truly their own. In essence, the modern hero is the Sovereign Man.
You can choose how to feel and how to respond in any moment, so to choose to complain and be negative is the choice of the fool.
This is spot on.
Generations of men have been belittled and degraded to the point of near hopelessness.
The media has only made it worse by denying them any healthy heroic role models to aspire to, so men have finally realised the system itself is the problem.
A rotten system inverts morality to suit its ends, and condemns as wicked those who refuse to serve it.
Excessive comfort is your greatest enemy as a man.
If every craving you ever have is satisfied instantly, you’ll quickly have no motivation or internal fire that pushes you towards greatness. You’ll become soft, because why would you ever choose difficulty when you could choose pleasure? But that softness is the reason you must choose the extended hardship over instant gratification. Your capacity for greatness demands an intense ability to endure suffering because no heroic prize was ever just given for nothing… it was earned through grit and determination.
To consciously choose the easy and comfortable path is to declare that you aren’t worthy of the hero’s journey. Naturally, the remaining paths are that of the worm or the adolescent. And that’s a horror that doesn’t bare thinking about. Choose hardship or you’ll wither, slowly at first, but then almost irreparably.

quality of life improvements that will shift your worldview (permanently)
>10k steps a day minimum
>notifications OFF at all times (just on for the close circle)
>make it a habit to ask yourself: would you still buy it if no one ever saw it? this will save you a lot of time (and money)
>realize that most advice from before 2000 is irrelevant (think degree = job or be loyal to your employer)
>figure out what your ideal day looks like and how you should set things up so you are 2 to 3 actions away from always having it
>the truth will always set you free, but first it will make you miserable. exact reason why "lonely phase" is always worth it
>learn to sell yourself, your story and who you are + how to communicate to the masses (the difference between a "good" politician and a "bad" one)

>learn to smile, nod and agree (it is a life skill)
>make it a habit to DM people you find inspirational. one basic thank you goes a long way and might change your life.
>want a good life? stop comparing yourself (no idea where to start? by not consuming lifestyle material)

>discussions and arguments about politics, religion and gossip are a waste of time 98% of the time

The mental damage that hustle culture bros, roid heads and grifters online have inflicted on young men is something that I think is largely below the current collective consciousness. If a lot of young men are honest with themselves, I believe they’d admit they allowed their desires, fears and anxieties become warped and hideously fixated on egoic metrics of success.
Many people have fallen for the smoke and mirrors of scammers who want to make a quick buck on the hopes and dreams of others. They’ve been manipulated but they don’t want to admit it. Their beliefs and opinions are no longer their own but those of their favourite materialistic icon.
Social media rewards the loudest and most performative of spectacles, but real success is internal, and spiritual in nature. Never forget this, because some people want you to believe you’re incomplete, or that you need to buy their course to be whole. But the answers were always inside. You just need the courage to follow your own lead.
The human brain is wired to crave an instant reward following any amount of effort. But to truly move mountains, you need to be okay with almost imperceptible progress for months and even years.
The gap between an average individual and a great one is like the difference between an ember and a flame. You must remain an ember for what feels like an eternity, until one day when you spontaneously combust into a brilliant blaze that rewards your efforts tenfold.
You just need to keep going when it gets boring and when it gets painful. And if your mission is strong enough, pain will be akin to pleasure and your glory will be inevitable.
How you do one thing is how you do everything.
If you’re lazy when it comes to cleaning your room, or working your job, you’ll also be lazy when it comes to things that truly matter: your health, your relationships and your mission.
Each action you take programmes your mind a certain way, so don’t allow the small things to ruin the bigger bigger picture. Each skipped workout, avoided conversation and delaying of your destiny cements the coward in you a little deeper.
Choose order, discipline and courage in the smallest of actions and watch your life transform for the better.
Rome didn’t fall to the barbarians. In fact it fell much earlier because of bread and circuses. By the third century the state was distributing free grain to nearly 200,000 citizens in the capital, alongside constant games and spectacle, precisely as civic participation collapsed and the legions filled with foreign mercenaries who had no stake in the republic's survival.
Rome fell because it no longer produced great men like Augustus, or Cicero or Cincinnatus. It instead created a population that consumed rather than built, a citizenry fed and entertained into forgetting it was ever meant to be sovereign.
The barbarians who eventually walked through the gates weren't conquering a civilization, but inheriting a shell that had already hollowed itself out from the inside, one free loaf and one gladiator match at a time. People stop needing to be conquered the moment they stop needing to be free.
Jobs are a great way to learn real life skills, gain confidence and invest money monthly with little risk at all. The problem is that too many people do work which is discordant with their nature, and the money they make is squandered on consumption. Under these circumstances, your soul slowly starves and your chances of economic sovereignty are non existent.
The magical combination is a job that feels genuinely meaningful while you invest your income aggressively and build income on the side that you OWN. Once you truly own your sources of income (rather than renting them from an employer) you can say that you have real security and not just the illusion of it. The level of confidence and joy for life this will create in your mind can’t be overstated.
The problem is that the AI that takes your job is owned by corporations and the handouts you will be getting are owned by the state.
What do you have left that you truly own?
You will be relegated to the permanent peasantry and you'll never own the assets, skills or leverage needed to position yourself away from the iron grip of tyrants.
“AI is going to take your job!”
I FUCKING HOPE SO.
Take my job. Take your job. Take everyone’s job.
Automate the entire economy.
Make intelligence practically free. Make labor practically free. Drive the cost of everything down.
Why are we treating the elimination of human labor as some kind of tragedy?
For thousands of years, humanity has dreamed of a world where machines do the work and people enjoy their lives.
Now that we’re getting close, everyone’s having a mental breakdown.
I don’t want a better job.
I want a world where nobody needs one.
The modern world is structured such that your body naturally becomes weak, tired and incapable of facing the demands of life. Work is sedentary, food is ultraprocessed, and comfort is made easily available to all.
It’s therefore easy to see how the average man has withered into a physically and emotionally incompetent boy. The system has no incentive to make you strong because a mentally and physically capable man is more likely to disregard authority and work by his own laws.
From this perspective it’s clear to see that building your body, mind and spirit isn’t vain or performative, but is in fact radically political, life affirming and conducive to a sovereign existence. Because sovereignty demands a life lived in truth, which is impossible to bare without the strength to carry it.
Every civilisation has its myth about man facing the serpent, or the dragon. St George slays the dragon; Zeus defeats Typhon; Thor overcomes the world serpent. It’s a task so daunting that it requires a heroic figure to overcome. Order is created from pure chaos and the world is preserved because of it.
But the dragon was never external. It was always a physical manifestation of your inner shadow, and its chaos is that which you refuse to face about yourself. To slay the dragon is to integrate the discordant parts of yourself into the whole and to begin a more sovereign and authentic existence.
What you’re avoiding is where the treasure lays. Fear often guards the most joyous of experiences that life has to offer. You must slay the dragon continuously, in spite of your fear, and only then do you earn the right to reap the rewards of a life fully lived.
"I would rather be ashes than dust! I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot. I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet. The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.”
- Jack London
You don’t need to quit your job early on. Freedom is something you eventually earn through your agency. Your job is the training ground which allows you to practice this sense of agency, and to test your courage and initiative. It’s not a cage until you accept it as such, but in fact it’s an opportunity to learn valuable skills with little risk to yourself and your bank account. Once you’re insanely competent, you need only apply this competence to your own vision and your own systems. Then, you’re only steps away from a sovereign existence.
Every day and with every action, you subconsciously choose either courage or cowardice. Each time you speak with confidence or hesitation, each time you act decisively or avoid entirely, each time you confront discomfort or retreat from it, you’re casting a vote for the type of man you’re becoming.
Each small choice you make, for the sake of comfort, or boredom, or glory, cements your character into place. This is why it’s so important to choose courage even in the smallest of actions, because you’re continually teaching your mind how to view itself. Choose cowardice and avoidance enough and you’ll quickly morph into a worm who resorts to comfort at the first sign of difficulty.
The Spartans produced some of the most fearsome warriors that have ever existed.
Physically weak babies would be abandoned, and those boys who reached 7 were taken from their families and entered the Agoge. Here they would live in military barracks, eat little food and train intensively daily, including running, wrestling, boxing and javelin throwing. With age, training and competition would intensify and the harshness of their living conditions would increase, often sleeping on a bed of reeds every night. Only by age 30 was a man able to call himself a Spartan citizen, so long as he’d sufficiently fulfilled his obligations. And he would often serve militarily until he was 60.
The process was extremely difficult because the Spartan phalanx needed disciplined, obedient and resilient men to hold formation. Everything in Spartan society revolved around war, and it’s this that allowed it to dominate surrounding states including Athens.
But Sparta eventually collapsed, mainly due to its declining population. Athens became the dominant force in Greece because they were more adaptable. Spartans specialised in one thing only: war. This meant they were brittle outside it - no merchant class, no philosophy, no capacity to innovate or absorb new citizens when their numbers thinned. Athens diversified, trading, building, thinking, adapting to whatever the moment demanded, and outlasted the very warriors who once beat them on the field.
Total mastery of one form only will spell your doom. The Sovereign Man trains like a Spartan but thinks like an Athenian. He adapts to circumstance because he realises that if he trains like a Spartan but neglects the interior life of an Athenian, he’s destined to dwindle.
Discipline is impossible when your nervous system is dysregulated, because then even a mild inconvenience feels like a mortal threat. You won’t do the painful or boring work because your spirit feels at war with itself.
The answer is to reconnect to the root of your spirit, and this is achieved through silence, stillness and prayer. Feel the frequencies of love and gratitude and you’ll start to intuitively know what to do with your life. From here, discipline is easy because it becomes fused with both your mission and your identity.
Most people who think they have a stressful lifestyle are actually just trying to control too many things that they’re supposed to let run free.
