#AbGradCon Outreach Hints -- Astrobiology.com Editor’s note:
The prime reason for being at AdGradCon - Astrobiology Graduate Conference - (abgradcon.org/) is to focus on – AbGradCon. But, as you know, sharing what you have learned, your enthusiasm for the topic, and your interest in helping advance the discipline of Astrobiology are also important. As you post things (and you should) on social media using some basic hashtags will help interested parties see what is happening and also will help people like me to find and then re-broadcast things to much wider audience.
As such, IMHO if you put #AbGradCon #Astrobiology tags on your pictures and posts you’ll be using terms most likely to get people’s attention. Other tags (in addition) can help further refine your reach – but using #AbGradCon #Astrobiology makes it easy for your postings to reach the widest possible audience (and help me find your stuff).
I will be more than happy to post or link to anything you wish to write after the event – observations, contact information, positions sought – whatever. You can reach me at kcowing - at- astrobiology.com -- Keith Cowing, editor.

FYI @NASAAdmin @StateDept - you have an opportunity to extend @NASA #softpower where it can do wonders. FYI #NASA's reach into South America is organic and already pervasive: From 2017: "Understanding NASA's Global Reach" nasawatch.com/2017/01/13/und…
"What I am wondering ... is whether people wearing the NASA logo in Chile connect that logo only to the Chilean mine rescuers or whether they connect it to the exploration of space. Chile does have a space agency albeit a small one. A cubesat has been built and is scheduled for launch. Astrobiologists have been visiting the ultra-dry alien-like expanse of the Atacama for many years. Astronomers have been scanning the skies from Parnal for decades. Soon there will be people looking for habitable worlds circling the nearest star system to our own. Chile is not only poised on the edge of South America it is also poised on the cutting edge of the exploration of the universe."
Maybe someone at NASA can find a way to make Artemis Accords, Space Catalyst Partnerships, and Space Academy work in a synergistic fashion to promote our nation's science and exploration ethic to a global audience? Just a thought.
Looking forward to working with @StateDept on the new Space Catalyst Partnership and deepening cooperation with the Artemis Accords signatories. By bringing together our international partners and the American space ecosystem, we can create new opportunities in civil and commercial space and accomplish great things together.

Keith's note: According to this a settlement, META just settled a $17 billion lawsuit with some online rules for younger users. This was inevitable. As @NASA expands its use of social media, it must now give very careful and strategic consideration to new constrains on reaching a younger audience – the Artemis Generation.
NASA likes to announce its large online stats and impressive reach – but its more than numbers. Its about crafting messages to different audiences in an adaptive way that actually reaches them and delivers the desired information with a feedback channel. The bullhorn approach only works to a point. These emerging changes will skew that approach.
These settlements come with limits on usage. What happens if a rocket launch happens during the off-limit times for teens? What happens if a NASA YouTube video is longer than 15 minutes? What if you want to track satellites or use apps to share what you see in the night sky hours during night time blocks?
NASA still needs to reach, inform, and inspire the Artemis Generation amidst an ever-shifting online environment. I hope NASA OCOMM understand this. I know Jared Isaacman @NASAAdmin does. If @NASAJPL can reprogram a 1970s era computer in interstellar space on the Voyager twins, then NASA can find the right self-adjusting comms channels to stay in purposeful contact with all Americans.
