To address again one of the arguments used to support the usage of BCE CE as opposed to BC AD. The argument is: "I Prefer BCE, CE. Not everyone in the world is Christian". (From an actual comment). This position seems to imply that the usage of BC AD may offend non Christians. To that I reply. Are Christians, Muslims, Buddhists and Jews offended by the usage of the names of pagan gods for the planets in space and the days of the week? If you so strongly feel for the defense of the feelings of non Christians (who often don't even care), then should you not also ask for the replacement of Mars, Venus, Saturnus, Jupiter and all the rest? To not offend us Christians? How about Wednesday, the day of Odin? For consistency of argument, you should. I'll do it for you. Same logical framing. "I Prefer Planet 1, Planet 2/Day 1, Day 2. Not everyone in the world is pagan". Yet no one does that. Because the intent is only to be offended for non Christians (Who are not even offended in the first place), and specifically target Christianity only. I for one as a Christian am NOT offended by the usage of the pagan gods and their names for the planets and the days of the week. I think Mars, Venus, Mercury sound fantastic and cool. I love that Thursday is the day of Thor. How cool is that? I would in fact OBJECT against the erasure of these cultural notes on the basis of "not everyone is a pagan" or "I'm offended as a Christian". I'm not offended. I love culture and history. You don't have to agree with me of course, but at least be consistent in your reasoning, and apply the law equally to all.
