We cannot confirm this ourselves, which is why I'm posting here instead of the main account, but one of the very old (pre-4.0) rumors about this banner system is that it's regional.
For instance, a Mondstadt banner would have characters like Eula, Klee, Albedo in the pool.

@braxophone you are a very generous person and I have joyfully had the pleasure of talking with you now a bunch of times. You strike me as a truly genuine person willing to have meaningful conversations and have an air of maturity and general respect towards all people not because of their status or because of their influence etc.
This sucks to read because it really stems down to blatant immaturity. Our work involves video games: we talk about video games. Outside of this little bubble: no one gives a fuck about what we do. We are not celebrities. We are people who enjoy talking about video games.

The animation powercreep is real.
Still not a fan of the base design (the execution of his colour palette feels muddled), but hell if he doesn't have some of the best animations in the game.
Really looking forward to the 4.4 cutscene, this boy's going to give us a show.

Now, I'm not calling the image floating around fake--I don't know whether or not it's real, truly.
However, some of these details are throwing me for a loop.
Could it be possible it's AI-generated?

If it's real, it's low-quality artwork that will be polished before release.
If it's AI, it's an elaborate fake leak.
Just throwing out the possibility because his hands and the outlines on CR's hair are quite bad, low-res or not.
