A NYCHA development in Williamsburg was privatized after $490 million in PACT renovations. Rents jumped from $600 to $1,600 a month. Residents were pushed out, evictions skyrocketed, and heat and water problems persisted despite the renovations.
From questionable ethics to alarming legislation, Councilmember Marte’s Intro 303 would institutionalize individuals with severe disabilities. NYC deserves better policy that protects human rights. #DisabilityJustice
The @NYCCouncil has limited Councilman Marte’s ability to allocate funds because of a growing scandal over alleged misuse of government staff for political activities. Is this someone Council members truly want to follow by supporting his bill that would destroy 68 small horse-carriage businesses and put 300 workers out of work? @AmandaFariasNYC @CnDelarosa @CMCHRISBANKS42 @CMNantashaW @EricDinowitzNYC @CMKevinCRiley @CMFarahLouis @Lynn4NYC @CMMercedesCD46 @oswaldfeliz @CMLindaLee @vmmaloney

The current US Department of Justice is committing itself towards reinterpreting the Americans with Disabilities Act as it relates to the right of an individual to live at home in the "most integrated setting." I recommend anyone with questions to listen to this presentation.

Today’s serious e bike crash in Central Park brought to you, as always by @transalt @ShaunAbreu @ CentralParkNYC

There is nothing about adding a bike lane that makes an e-biker not speed, run red lights, leave scene of crash, ride on auto-pilot.The majority voices will soon drown out the Authoritarian, wealthy @TransAlt & corrupt @ShaunAbreu ‘cause THAT is what Democracy Looks Like!💜

The "growing pains" here include the lady still in the coma this week, just the latest severe injury or death by e-bike in Central Park. The word count of this @StreetsblogNYC article presumably precluded the inclusion of this violent tragedy, certainly relevant to the conversation of street-user safety in Central Park, which is driving the horse-carriage ban.

We all told you that the @PartnerwithPPL was going to be a disaster yet you stood there and lie and said everything was going well while consumers like myself suffered through the disaster. I’m proud to co-sponsor legislation to make NYC’s 15 MPH e-bike speed limit permanent law.
This isn't meant to be anti-cyclist. This is motivated by pedestrian safety & common sense.
Crashes involving e-bikes are soaring. Seniors, kids, and families deserve safe streets too.

He said THIS is why people don’t trust politicians…
He was right — just not how he meant it.
You called Kathy Hochul harmful to Black & brown communities.
You accused her of something as serious as genocide.
Not policy… MORALS.
Now you endorsing her?
So what changed?
Because her record didn’t suddenly flip overnight.
That’s the problem.
They’ll go all the way there when it’s time to attack…
Then act like none of it mattered when it’s time to align.
That’s a contradiction.
And THAT is why people don’t trust politicians. 🎯

A year after handing over our home care to a private equity-backed corporation, the @HealthNYGov Commissioner is still hiding from us.
☎️ We need you to call your state reps to get accountability for the 238,000 New Yorkers who have lost home care and home care jobs!
(lookup at pluralpolicy.com/find-your-l…)
📞 Hi, my name is _____. I’m a constituent and am calling to ask you to support the Home Care Transparency Act.
Over 200,000 New Yorkers have left CDPAP since PPL took over, and the Department of Health has provided zero oversight of their $11B contract.
We need the legislature’s help to make sure the Department of Health does their job. The Home Care Transparency Act would require PPL to submit regular public reports to the Department of Health on their outcomes. This is a crucial first step to bring accountability to this disastrous transition.
Will [NAME OF LEGISLATOR] co-sponsor the Home Care Transparency Act (S9142/A10537 [if they haven’t already] and be vocal with their colleagues to ensure it’s passed this session?

They told y’all the DSA was a joke… meanwhile they’re building a pipeline.
Not just voters. Not just volunteers.
Candidates. Organizers. Replacements.
While the old guard been sitting in power for DECADES…
same names, same seats, same playbook.
That ain’t leadership. That’s a closed club. 🎯
And here’s the part nobody wanna say out loud—
young people ain’t being developed… they being USED.
Knock doors. Pass flyers. Push the agenda… then go sit down.
DSA flipped that whole model.
They don’t send young people home…
they put them on the BALLOT.
History already showed you how this works.
Movements don’t come from people comfortable in power…
they come from people trying to TAKE it.
You can disagree with them all you want…
But understand this clearly—
they not building volunteers.
They building your REPLACEMENT. 👀
