On Wednesday 2nd April, students in years 7 to 10 had the incredible opportunity to hear from the parents of Jimmy Mizen, an inspirational story which teaches about the value of life and the dangers of bullying, alongside the virtues of hope and forgiveness, which Barry and Margaret Mizen so inspirationally share. Student feedback reflected on the important themes of āfaith, hope and forgivenessā where students were inspired by the courage of Margaret and Barry and felt empowered to open their hearts and forgive others. Student voice reflected our school values where one student prayed that God continued to āgive them courage to inspire more young people to do goodā.

Year 11 students participated in an interactive workshop exploring key themes within A Christmas Carol. This engaging session included a performance of the text, facilitating an excellent discussion of key characters, themes and quotations from this Victorian novella. Students described the session as āinvaluable preparationā for their English Literature exam, explaining that watching the performance supported their understanding of Dickensā intentions (and also involved decorating a Christmas tree with the key features of the text!) #AspiretobeMore

It was great to see more competitive fixtures taking place with STM students. Recently the U12 Netball squad were fantastic in a city schools netball competition. Tonight the U16 Basketball squad were in league action. Well done to all who participated. š @StThomasMoreCA
Our Year 12 Biology students enjoyed a very hands-on lesson, where they created models of DNA. This helped them to understand how this complex genetic code is constructed and how it is responsible for giving an organism a specific characteristic.
Scholars Graduation!
The graduation is to celebrate the completion of the Scholars Programme which is a university style programme where students complete tutorials and a final academic assignment. They have had a day out at the University of Manchester learning all about university life, including a tour and their graduation ceremony where they all received their certificates.
Congratulations to all of our students!
12 of our Y8 and 9 students are currently in Aberdovey, Wales with Miss Hughes and Miss Bussell having a fantastic time on their Outward Bound residential trip. 2025 is a year of Jubilee, something which happens every 25 years. The theme is āPilgrims of Hopeā
Our school chaplaincy students had the opportunity to visit the Jubilee Icon, a symbol of resilience and renewal that has become central to our Catholic tradition. This visit was not just an exploration of art but also a journey of reflection on its deeper meaning.

Foodbank Donations - December 2024
We want to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of the staff and students who have been collecting items for our most vulnerable brothers and sisters, to support them throughout the Christmas period and into the new year. Together, students have collected food items to donate to our local food bank which will directly support families within our local parish and community this Christmas. Alongside this, staff have been collecting toiletries and hygiene items for Fr Hudsonās Caritas, which will go to support refugees, asylum seekers and those who are homeless. As a Catholic community, we have lived simply, standing in solidarity with those in need, fulfilling Pope Francisā call to love one another. In Fratelli Tutti, Pope Francis reminds us that ā[Jesus] asks us not to decide who is close enough to be our neighbour, but rather that we ourselves become neighbours to all.ā Let us be reminded that charity does not restrict itself to one kind of person. Love for others powerfully renews us. Let us reflect on this this Christmas, as we pray for spiritual renewal, peace and love for all, particularly those in need, as we reflect on our Catholic Social Teachings. Let us remember, that true happiness comes not from receiving things ourselves, but from the love we feel and share when we give to others.
