It is the author’s opinion that the McClellan indicators, and in particular, the McClellan Summation Index, is the single best breadth indicator available. If you had to pick just one, this would be it. by Gregory L. Morris $spy $qqq $iwm $dia schrts.co/VFTuwTyA

What actually matters if you want to last as a trader.
Want to succeed as a trader? Focus on this.
1) Build a real trade database. Log every execution. The more detail you keep, the faster you stop guessing.
2) Study both ends. Break down your best trades and isolate what made them work. Then do the same with your worst, and name the error you keep repeating.
3) Build for asymmetry. Keep the risk-reward favorable, and the downside capped. Let the winners do the work.
4) Don’t treat a system as finished. Edge decay is real. Markets shift, and the process has to shift with them.
5) Learn from audited track records. Multi-year, verified. The industry is full of self-proclaimed pros with nothing you can check.
6) Accept the timeline. This takes years and a few real losses. You have to get through bull markets and bear markets, protect capital when it’s lean, and prove you can follow your own rules under pressure — not just keep them on a piece of paper.
7) Judge the system by what it keeps, not by what it can make. Maximum return means little if capital preservation is not built in. Impatience is what takes out almost everyone trying to build a career without a way to stay in the game.
8) Ring-fence capital outside the book. Real estate, investments, a business on the side. One bad regime should not be able to end the career.
